Tough call,David.I like early Elvis,so I would go with Loving You and Jailhouse Rock.I'm sure most of the people on here would probably go with the Blue Hawaii soundtrack as being the best soundtrack album.

Released as an E.P.

When you go song by song you actually realize that there is a bunch of good songs, from What´d I Say to Little Less Conversation.
But unfortunately when you put the bad stuff, both movies and soundtracks in a balance, the bad stuff is heavier, he did recorded, unfortunately a lot of crap.
Maybe if a lot of soundtracks that were released as an LP, where cut down to a half and released as 6 track E.P.'s or some of them just not released except for a single, Elvis reputation as a musician, in the middle of the hip 60's, wouldn't had fallen so low, but well that (in terms of short term sighting) would have not been such a good money making.
Anyway I think the reason because people is so hard with Elvis about the movies, is that is quite amazing, that the guy that started a revolution in music, suddenly stepped a way from that, and became the golden goose of music exploitation. Like Kurt Cobain suddenly going Britney or Radiohead suddenly becoming a Boy Band. And somehow the generation that wrote rock history on a book is the one that saw the true reveled on one classic 60's Lp after another, delivered by Dylan, Beatles, Pink Floys etc. saw Elvis as nothing else as the exploitation product of people like Hall Wallis, that did nothing but Do the Clam or Dogs Life, selling rock for dummies. And, Baby Boomers, where to young to remember what Elvis did and mean a generation before, what had meant for the generation of his icons like Lennon or whoever, that where actually not boomers, but the younger ones from the same generation of Elvis, the ones that listened to the world before Elvis.
Then the '68 comback came, and for a while, the world realized what was Elvis really about, yet, stigmas are hard to over come, and the fact that Parker booked Elvis to Vegas instead of touring the most popular places in the rock circuit, and send him overseas, and the fact that RCA showed itself inept to package and sell Elvis wonderful music recorded during the 70's, made that for a lot of people, Elvis still meant a joke.
It was until the 80's and 90's that the world really started to realize that there was a true artist growing and delivering, despite all obstacles, great stuff until the end of his life. I guess the world is still realizing it.
As I said in another thread, Im eager to experience how younger generations will perceive Elvis 50 years from now as opposed of this Baby boomer tinted ****ed up economical crisis era.

Admittedly, those are probably his two best, along with Loving You, cuz during those years he was still a "rocker." The Love Me Tender songs like Poor Boy and We're Gonna Move were more like the novelty songs he sang in the '60s movies.
It's hard to choose from his '60s movie soundtracks. When all is said and done, I'd probably have to choose Viva Las Vegas. I don't think there was one song from that movie that Elvis should've been embarrassed about. Plus the two duets with Ann-Margret made it special.
Follow That Dream is my single favorite Elvis movie song. I also like What A Wonderful Life and Angel. FTD may be my personal favorite soundtrack.

The 50s stuff was best, for sure.
From the 60s I like Viva Las Vegas. Song for song Live a Little Love a Little and Change of Habit are pretty good too

True. Edge Of Reality and Let Us Pray are two of my personal favorites.
As I said, it's hard to choose just one from the '60s soundtracks, as they all had their shining moments.....well, almost all.

Hmmm...tough choice... :hmm:
Certainly KING CREOLE has to be at or near the top of the list, as does BLUE HAWAII. Personally, I also like the soundtrack to FUN IN ACAPULCO and the songs from LIVE A LITTLE, LOVE A LITTLE (even though there was no official soundtrack released)!! (y)
If I had to come up with 1 more to make a top-5 list...despite a couple of the cornier songs, I have always had a fondness for the PARADISE, HAWAIIAN STYLE soundtrack!

If I was to pick one soundtrack it would have to be, KING CREOLE. That goes for Movie/Video as well.
All though like mentioned above, there's a lot of ELVIS songs that has that awesome ELVIS STYLE we all love on here.
NOTE: The reason TICKLE ME had a great song list was cause Elvis himself picked the songs. To me it's a revelation of what songs he was proud of in 1964. There was a hand full of other songs that didn't make it in the movie.
