Perhaps this has been asked on other posts, but I couldn't find it.
When was the last time Elvis perfomed this song?
Any ideas, why did Elvis stop performing Suspicious Minds live? :hmm:
Do you think he ever would have returned to perroming this song?
This just seems like a curious thing; That he would suddenly stop performing one of his biggest hits.

I recall he last tried it in Vegas 1975, the song worked but he wasn't feeling too well. 33 years and 364 days ago on August the 19th..
As far as I know he never tried it again later on. On a recording from '77 I heard a fan scream the title, but Elvis was a bit perplexed and didn't do it.
Could be he stopped performing it because it was such an exhausting song to do.

Iv heard he stopped playing this song simply because he didnt like it anymore. Somewhere iv read that Elvis said 'I hate that d*** song'.

Sounds reasonable. Some songs he took to a certain level and after that he simply lost interest - "memories" is another example, the versions from '69 are definitely messy compared to the comeback special. I bet "burning love" suffered the same fate eventually.

These are great examples of that. I had heard he never really liked "Burning Love", but the other songs...I thought he liked those?

He actually had to be forced to record, "Burning Love". It was another song that he didn't like.

I wished he had kept Suspicious Minds and Burning Love and dumped Hound Dog etc.

It IS kinda weird that he didn't like this song....Really, what other artist could sing he's a "Hunka Hunka burnin' love" and get away with it?

For him not to like it he performed it from 1972 all the way through middle of 1976. Will exclude the year 1974, don't think it was done at all that year.:hmm:

When i said he didnt like it, i meant by the time he stopped using it in his shows so often so around 74. im sure he still liked it to an extent in 72.

You think he would have liked it somewhat since it was number 2 on the hot billboard charts. His last bigest hit.

I'm sure Elvis just got tired of the song.It was everywhere.I mean yeh it was a big hit, that's great, but you eventually get tired of singing the same songs over again..
