Elvis 1970 budget Christmas album has been certified as 9x platinum by the RIAA but probably has sold 11 or 12 million by now.

Blue Hawaii was the biggest selling soundtrack.

It was but has since been surpassed by several albums.

Which sold the most when we exclude Christmas, Gospel or 'Greatest Hits' compilations? :hmm:

That would be Aloha from Hawaii

What about if we exclude 'live', too?

Then it would be Moody Blue

I guess the sales of that one benefitted from the timing.
But hey, there's some 'live' stuff on there so it shouldn't really count ;)

According to RIAA certified album sales in the U.S. the list of best selling albums is as follows.

Elvis 1970 Christmas budget album 9x platinum
Elvis golden records volume 1 6x platinum
Aloha from Hawaii 5x platinum
Elvis 30 #1 hits 5x platinum
Elvis top 10 hits 4x platinum
Elvis number one hits 1987 3x platinum
Blue Hawaii 3x platinum
Elvis in Concert 3x platinum
Elvis 50's box set 2x platinum
Moody Blue 2x platinum

Note: Aloha from Hawaii and Elvis in Concert should be counted as a double albums but because RCA only released them as one album when they were released as CD's they are only counted as one album
so instead of sales of 10x platinum and 6x platinum it's 5x platinum and 3x platinum.
Moody Blue probably has sold more than 2x platinum in the U.S. since it came out right before Elvis death but because of poor recording keeping it is only certified as 2 million in sales.

Never thought that the 30 #1 hits was on the Top 5.

Didn't knew either that the 50's box did that well. I remember the to 10 hits, that was like the Elvis double CD they had everywhere when I was a child, one of my first Elvis cds by the way.

Thanks Brian.
