Beautiful song by J.D. Sumner. I met J.D. briefly in Elvis' hotel lobby after
the Cincinnati, March '76 concert. He struck me as a very nice man. A true
friend to Elvis.:D:D:D:D:D

Nice topic! JD was truly something - he is known to be beaten by large whales only. Whereas I'm among the lowest of the lowest (as a human being), JD was the world's lowest bass singer. Remarkable!

As you know he is my cousin.

At least we finally have an explanation for your imposing frame and unnervingly deep voice (y)

That is correct. The video is from a DVD called: J.D. SUMNER & THE STAMPS QUARTET: A VIDEO PORTRAIT (http://www.jdsumnerandthestampsquartet.com/store/store.dvd.html) and it is available at the following website:

J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Official Website (http://www.jdsumnerandthestampsquartet.com/index.html)

It is one of JD's final video appearances before his death in 1998.

Even though J.D. was a wonderful man, he always liked to embellish his relationship to Elvis. J.D. only ever saw Elvis during the tours - and in the early years during the Gospel sings around Memphis in the 1950s but in the 1970s he only saw him during the tours - not at any other time.

Yep, this is true. FWIW, the video clip that was originally posted is one of my favorite videos of J.D. and the Stamps.
