HISTORY:
This suit was donated by Elvis to the Germantown Jaycee's (Memphis) for a charity auction to benefit the St. Jude's Children's hospital in Memphis. The auction took place in August-1975 which was covered by the local TV stations as well as the newspapers: Press Semitar & the Commercial Appeal showing the suit and auction. Jack Johnson, a friend of Vernon's and a member of the Jaycee's personally acquired the suit from Vernon at Graceland. (This is all stated in the letter of authenticity from Mr. Johnson) There is a Certificate of Authenticity from Jimmy Velvet, personal friend of Elvis and founder of the Elvis Presley Museums of Memphis, Nashville, Orlando & Honolulu. There is a letter of authenticity from Elvis's brother, David Stanley and two newspaper articles showing the suit and covering the auction. This item is an incredible treasure with outstanding documentation!
The last two Elvis stage costumes that sold at auction went for over 200,000.00 each, these don't come around often since the EPM closed it's doors in the mid-nineties. Having a notarized letter from Vernon Presley is rare in itself and considered 'gold' in the world of collecting personally owned Elvis items.
