I'm now working in this book store and I've spotted that we had a book about Elvis. It was written by David Stanley and Lamar Fike. I was wondering if any of you heard of this book before and read it. How credible are David Standley's words?

I know of the book
David Stanley is the least credible person in the Elvis world imo
My advice avoid buying it.

I have it and I think it's worth to buy it!
Why? Because it's a kind of a day-by-day (not exactly) biography. So you have an overview about Elvis' activities over the years. Some comments by David Stanley and Lamar Fike are added, to show their (!!!) point of view of some special situations. You can think about them whatever you want, no-one says that you have to read their comments.
Also included are a trivia, his records (chart positions, gold records,...)

I missed this the first go around. I was at work today & we are carrying this book for Christmas - on sale for $19.99 - but we have coupons and my discount, I could buy it for around $8. I went and nicked one off the Red Box Display and was looking thru it. some info was good, most of the pictures we've seen before, I did come across a few I hadn't seen. There were a couple of photos that I would consider cutting out of the book and hang in my Elvis room- that would be worth the $8. But since it's at my job, I'm pretty sure someone in my family will buy it - since they also get my discount and give it to me for Christmas - they don't understand that I don't care for Stanley.
Interesting side note, I saw quite a few photos of David and Rick Stanley, but very few of Billy - in fact the only photos I recall of Billy were of him as a child. I did look thru it pretty fast - didn't want to get caught reading on company time! :lmfao:
