Ray Johnston thought his life was disgustingly normal. At forty-two, he had lived in Memphis all his life. His ex-wife had saved him from paying alimony by marrying her divorce lawyer, he enjoyed his work at the lumberyard, and he had a girlfriend who, everyone had to admit, was a peach. He did suffer one recurring nuisance; from as far back as he could remember, strangers would come up to him asking, “Do you know you look a lot like Elvis?” One day a man at a bar notices the similarity. It turns out the man actually works for Elvis Presley, and soon Ray gets two unfriendly phone calls, supposedly from the King himself. Later comes a third, one that makes Ray dizzy. He has been invited to dinner at Graceland! In an hour! Why? Ray can’t believe it---even when the limousine arrives to take him to the famed residence.
What follows is a meeting of two men who have almost nothing in common except their looks, their age, and the city they were born and grew up in. One is a working man who is trying to deal with what life has given him. The other is the most well-known and worshipped singer who has ever lived.
Steve Carlson delivers an enchanting debut novel that explores the power of loss and redemption in a moving portrait of Elvis at the end of his life. 31548

Oh John, John, John, or I should say David, David, David. Just ask me! :D :D
It's a chick book. It is a good book, imo! Get's the emotions going anger, pity, all of them - because Jessie Garon is alive, he was switched at birth, and all of the conspiracy theories we've heard, happen to work under this writer's pen. I read it a while back, and kept it, it's one I would re-read, but then, I'm a chick, and I love these kinds of books.

Oh, ok Lisarose, thank you for the info. I may not buy it then if it's geared for chicks:lmfao:But,i love a mystery and that is wierd the concept that Jesse Garon faked his death (sci-fi of course) I appreciate the warning.:lmfao:(y)

no problem! If you want a good Elvis book, read the ones by Daniel Klein. Those are good. I really enjoyed the first three, the fourth not so much. But that's jMO!
A good mystery with Elvis in a cameo appearance is "Elvis & Me" - Richard Weber. A great mystery, Elvis appears briefly in very Elvis fashion - the mystery is really good - not at all a chick book. There's a serial killer out there that attacks during th hot summer months, children go missing. Surprise ending. Or it surprised me anyway.
Also, Elvis the Novel [Graham & Baty] is absolutely funny - it may seem a bit insulting to Elvis' memory at first, but when you consider all the "urban legends" regarding Elvis - well this book covers it! I found it to be more insulting to the tall tales than to Elvis himself!
