View Full Version : If Elvis had a Son?

I wondered if Elvis would have born a son if it would have changed his life in any way?

Lisa was to young to have had any input into Elvis' lifestyle, perhaps if she had been born 5 or 6 years earlier she could have made a difference. The demands of a teenager or young adult are different to those of a child who was happy to be spoiled?

I don't necessarily mean the changes would have been about the drugs, what about travelling, touring and boyfriends/girlfriends etc

I don't think it would've made any difference.

So for instance, if LMP was 15 or 16 and asking her Daddy why he was taking so many pills or Daddy please take some time off to get yourself better.

Or a Son of 15 or 16 standing up to his Dad and saying his father needed help wouldn't have changed anything?

No

Lots of people say they tried to talk to Elvis about talking pills but it didn't do any good.

Elvis was a grownman who was very badly addicted he was going to listen to a teenager

Blood is thicker than water! Being a father-I would never want my kids to be shamed by me, nor to feel like I was less than in control. Kids look to parents for security and most parents want to give that secure feeling to them.
An older child may have been a factor-paternal instinct may have taken over.
I know I am glad troubles I had were long ago-and my kids have little inkling of them today. They inspire me to be a better person-for them.

Well some parents don't listen to their kids

I speak from personal experience on that.

You are correct-but some like me worry about the role we play in our kids lives, how they see me as a father and person.
I have taught my kids to be honest, truthful, fair and understanding-when I am less than those things-they let me know it:)
I hear them-I try not to let them down.
They can be my conscience in a way-speaking back my own words.
I listen because I want them to know those things are important-they are the basics of life in my book.
If I drank all the time and one of them came to me and said,
"Dad isn't this getting out of hand" .................I might be taken aback and a little offended-but I would know they were right and not want them to think it was okay. I guess it depends on how seriously you take your role as a parent.

If we are to believe that Elvis loved LMP as much as everyone says, then surely an older LMP might have appealed to Elvis' better nature :hmm:

Honestly, I don't think so J.J. :'(

Lisa was obviously Elvis' pride and joy, and if she couldn't change his personal habits and way of life, then I don't think a son would have made much difference.

I think the only person that could have affected his later years would have been Gladys if she had still been alive. If Gladys had still been alive in Elvis' later years, I certainly think Elvis would have made some drastically different personal and professional choices and he would still be with us today (or at least lived much longer than he did). :hmm:

TCB!

I think so too. He couldn't have hidden his addiction from her or if he had had an older son like he could when Lisa was so young....it very definitely might have made quite a difference.

Could be. What if Elvis had been alive when Lisa started to toy with drugs? Surely trying to make her stop would have confronted them and maybe he would have faced the fact that he was doing the same to himself and realised how much those around him were suffering watching him self destroy, his daughter more than any of them.

I don't think so because in Elvis mind prescription drugs were okay whereas street drugs weren't so I think he wouldn't of made the connection.

The difference though is that by the time Lisa Marie would have been 15 or 16 is that the public and medical profession was viewing prescription drug addiction differently. Betty Ford was open by then i think and maybe this might have had an impact on Elvis.

I think a teenanger might have made Elvis look at himself. And i think Lisa Marie would have been right there in his ear. And family is a bit differant to a friend telling you, especially if that friend is on the payroll.

I don't think a son would have made a difference

I do think if Elvis had lived into the 80's Priscilla would've tried to get him into Scientology and that controversial program they have called Narcanon (that's not spelled right)of course knowing Elvis feelings toward scientology he would've told Priscilla and or John Travolta to stick it.

:hmm: I'm not so sure about that. I've always thought that deep inside he knew what was happening to him at least in the latest years of his life but admiting it when he was confronted about it meant he had to face the problem and do something and I don't think Elvis felt he had the strengh or the will to do it.

I agree Donut. Didn't Elvis (not his doctors) did try to get him off the meds from time to time? so i think a part of him knew they were no good. It's a tough question.

I think Lisa Marie could have motivated him to get clean as she got older. She's a big scary women, (in the right way). Her temper and stubourness could have matched Elvis' and he needed that to get him to look at the problem.

The drugs had a hold of E and nothing was going to shake that nothing except for ELVIS ADMITTING HE HAD A PROBLEM and we all know he would never admit that

a son would have been neat, but he loved his little girl so much so I'm thankful he had at least her in his life. The only good thing that came out of that doomed marriage.

To tell u the truth I just don't think he slept with a lot of those women...I think he just liked to make out and maybe some...... (well u get what I'm sayin)....I think that he had so much to live up to in bed that it caused him to have issues with sex.....How would anyone fell who has the legend of the a "sex god" the pressure to be a monster in the sack must have frazzled his nerves....But I think he bragged to the boys, and made it sound more than what it was......No doubt that he did sleep around but, not like everyone believes......No doubt a ladies man but to what degree is questionable????:hmm:

Much is said about the health of Elvis ... Maybe Lisa would influence the style of his life, if older. But Elvis was free and, I think, lonely. I think I was only happy on stage in front of fans. I do not know, honestly, if something could change what happened. Elvis had cancer in the bones? Much is said, little is confirmed. The drugs were necessary for their health? The fans, like us, I think were important to him. A lot! That's ... And: i'm sorry about my English. By!
