This new BMG/Follow That Dream CD of Elvis Presley's "Kid Galahad" movie soundtrack assembles all previously released material - the six songs from the original 1962 extended play in mono, as well as their full-length stereo counterparts which could be found on the 1990's "Double Features" CD - and, one assumes, the most interesting outtakes, several of which are released here for the first time. As always in this series the CD comes with an excellent colour booklet full of information and memorabilia in a handy tri-fold digipack (the size of a 45rpm).

For some perverse reason, though, the audio mixes on the present release are very different. The stereo masters are sounding disappointingly flat when compared with the outtakes (which have all the presence and warmth one could want), or indeed with the mono versions which have been mixed loudly.

While there are only 6 different songs, this CD features 27 numbers, running over 76 minutes. The development in the songs is in some cases quite elaborate (like the brilliant "King Of The Whole Wide World" and the fun "I Got Lucky") and really rewarding to follow through the outtakes, making this an indispensable release for collectors.

I've never liked this soundtrack as much as another just recently released in the 7 inch format, "Follow That Dream". I guess it's because I've never cared for "King Of The Whole
Wide World". For me this soundtrack is saved by "Home Is Where The Heart Is" and "I Got
Lucky". Overall, It's an enjoyable listen and I give it 4 stars.
