Hi "Cat Lady"
thought you might like to see the 69 International attendance records
(sorry if you have already seen this.)
Do you remember 2 ladies from England in Vegas (69-70-71) called
MARIA and GLADY'S DAVIES from Liverpool, AND the 3 long reports
Maria typed up of her trips (over 20 pages each).
Did you ever see them, or her Vegas feature reports..
I used to spend many hours with them talking about Elvis and his Shows
I eventually went in AUG-Sept 1972, and again in Feb '73, then followed
an almost 2 week tour in June 74(from Cleveland to Omaha) -I missed
going in 1975, mostly because Elvis was ill at the times I might have gone.
But did manage two more trips in March 1976 and 1977
Also managed a couple of dozen Candid views of Elvis mostly in daylight
during the Tour following trips.
I've enjoyed reading your Memories on the various topics on TCB
thankyou for sharing.. SincerELy Rex..
Attendance chart + plus 4th September 1972 Meeting Elvis with other British
Fans, and 2 girls from Sweden.

DID a phone interview with Rocky Barra (USA Strictly Elvis) last year.
(You can still read Rocky's interview at EIN)
I knew I was next on his list and in November he phoned me to set up
an Interview. **(Note: some of the pictures are down at EIN due to them changing
Network suppliers recently, they are slowly putting everything back together, my
4 Interviews can be read from the above Link and you will find links at EIN to my other
Elvis features, and the one about Maria Davies 1969 Vegas memories and info.)
In the 1970s he used to receive my
WORLDWIDE ELVIS NEWS SERVICE WEEKLY via his mailbox, so he always
felt my publication was important to the Elvis World.
The phone interview started 7am in Australia (8pm in England) and after
almost 2 hours, Nigel had to stop my Elvis Adventure Stories, due to
the fact he was going to be late for work- Ha! with many questions still
un-answered.
He had so much info to transcribe it had to be done in 3 parts on EIN
the 1st part in November, 2nd on Xmas Eve, a 3rd in Mid January and
then the Extra questions via Email from me in February 09.
If you want to know about my Life and the ELVIS QUEST please take a look
at my interview (I supplied a lot of Pictures to EIN to add to the interview)
After you have read it, please feel free to ask me about anything on
ELVIS that you would like in greater detail
I attended the Riot Show on the 18th Feb 73,
I got warned for Filming in Vegas by Tom Diskin on the 23rd Feb 73
(when I also had a Super 8mm copy of the Hawaii Show from Belgium TV
-almost 2 months before it was shown in the States)
- I had a portable floodlight in Johnson City, which
helped Len Leech(NJ) capture Elvis in a white ford LTcar, and the following
day in a Greyhound bus, on the Campus going into J.City. - and a lot of
other great things, trying to keep up with Elvis.
My ELVIS WEEKLY was published from the Early 70s up to Sept 78
(355 issues) it carries 100s of Newspaper reports, and almost complete
show reviews in Vegas and tours by Elvis fans, inspired by the fact they
could see their Story's in print in just One weeks time. So I have much
details on Elvis, his songs in each show, which jumpsuit was worn, what
matching belt, and scarf, And what he said.. Also we carried reviews
of all releases in the USA, with recording session details as they happened.
Hope you will look at the ELVIS INFORMATION NETWORK site for my
interview, I also supplied just a long report on 1969 Vegas by Maria Davies
with a 1000word article about my friendship with her.
A 3500 word article about ELVIS' TWO STARS ON HOLLYWOOD BLVD
a complete history
I have almost completed a very long Feature for EIN on the JAYCEES
AWARDS, including much indepth detail on all 7 Events Elvis attended
that day, with many photos, and graphics. Finally sorting out which
photo is from which event..
I have many other Investigative reports ongoing at
ELVIS THE KINGS COURT forum & website, going into great detail about
The HOUSTON ASTRODOME - 6 shows and the Two Press conferences
In depth Aug/Sept 1972, including how the 5th September Vegas
wasn't a press conference, but a Press Announcement, and a review
of all 3 NBC mini films of the event.
I have one of the Largest Elvis Film collections of Elvis outside the States
with many hours of Orig: film, (I took 26 hours of Elvis Shows myself from the 64 Elvis shows I got to see.)
I own 26 of the Hollywood movies on 16mm, and was the first to get
all the 68 NBC out-takes on 16mm film to show on large 14foot screens
in Europe. The 68 complete outtakes, aloha, rehearsal aloha and CBS
77, I have the Negatives, Magnetic tracks, Optical Sound Release Prints,
and some as COLOUR CORRECTED PRINTS.
Obtaining the film collection, is a long Elvis Adventure in its own right.

Rex,
All I can is "WOW"!!! To have been able to live like that back then was my dream! I was in 5th grade the first time I saw him 1970 at the Astrodome. Once my mother saw him there - she fell in love. For the next 7 years we saw him as much as we could. We went to Vegas 2/72, 8/72, 8/73 and 12/76. Kissed him twice, got 4 scarves and met him once in Memphis. Is The King's Court the same fan club that was around back in the 1970's? I was a member of The King's Court out of New York but recently found out that the 2 people who ran that one (back then) had passed on so I didn't know if someone else was keeping it going. I will be going back and reading about your experiences and will probably have tons of questions for you.
Here's my first question - were you at any of these shows and did you get any pictures?
2/14/72
8/18/72 (midnight show)
8/13/73 (both shows)
8/14/73 (both shows)
8/15/73 (both shows but especially midnight show)
12/11/76 (both shows)

Hi (doesn't seem right to call you TOTALLY INSANE-is that 100% Totally Insane? or just around the 50% some of the time..Ha! .. Oh! well..)
I seem to remember a couple of Kings Court clubs, one in Canada (by Rock
Caille, they had some great photos..) and the one you mentioned..
No this one started almost 4 years ago from Worcester in ENGLAND.
ELVIS THE KINGS COURT.COM
http://www.elvis-tkc.com/forum2/index.php?act=home
(to view the pictures almost half of the story, you will need to Register "which is FREE")
Its a great very FRIENDLY ELVIS site, that I have been having a lot of fun at.
You really need to look at the HOUSTON ASTRODOME TOPIC ~
http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/index.php?showtopic=13966
(to view the pictures you will have to register "which is free"
(about 80 posts of all info. including a lot about the various Films of it in 1970)
Maybe you might like to add some extra bits yourself. (hope so)
From your Vegas list, we probably crossed paths in the Casino, during the
August 1972 season.(I was handing out a sample of my Elvis weekly that season - took around 1000 with me, even handed one to Elvis from the stage, brought 1 back which Kathy signed, and gave Elvis 3 bound copies backstage). I went with 3 English Friends for 14 shows from around
the 10th August, my first 4 shows close up by the stage, left of centre.
and then the rest in the Balcony (far right front at weekends) and Dead
centre front in the week, (B1,B2 or B3 small round tables with 2 chairs-
directly behind Bill Porter and the sound mixing desk just in front and below
me)
I never took pictures in Vegas (apart from 23rd Feb dinner show 1973 which is another story)
However I did take over 4 hours of Super 8mm film over the 27 shows I saw (Aug-Sept 72)
(at the end of the week, I didn't want to go home, so waved my 3 friends
goodbye, and moved in with 2 australians that had won a trip from RCA Australia -to LA~Vegas and the Elvis Shows, including staying at the Hilton)
So I saw all the various Shirt and pants outfits, with the White jacket and short capes, in August - after he pretty well split all the pants, he only wore the Jumpsuits in Sept 72, and because I stayed in Vegas (had to resign my job-because they had only allowed me 10 days unpaid holiday and I wasn't back at work)
Much to my surprise Tom Diskin waved for me to join him from the Balcony to the Showroom entrance, (on the final night) to take me backstage for my Elvis meeting.. The others had been taken back by Col. Parker....
Yes I would have filmed in the Balcony on the 18th August at both shows
(probably 12 to 15 minutes.) do you remember what colour shirt Elvis wore??
and which song you kissed him and got the scarf ???
Your other dates are all different to mine, although I have many friends
in England and Europe that went on those other dates, most have Tape
Recordings, some have pictures, and a very few film..
My 2nd trip was 5 months later in Feb 73. and then June 1974 tour
just to see If it was possible to follow a tour, with all the Seats sold out
and half my cheques for tickets returned, and could you really still get in
to see every Elvis show, having travelled 3500 miles, without a ticket for
my 1st show in Cleveland, and it was YES YOU COULD, AND CATCH AN
EARLY MORNING FLIGHT to keep up with him, and watch him leave hotels
drive into the Arenas and land (once) at an airport (Bloomington) just an
hour or so after I had. And then catch up on Elvis at Graceland(March76)
biking in and out of the Graceland Gates, seeing him standing with Linda
in the doorway of his smaller Lear jet, and then watch it flying circles over
his home. I hardly slept for a week, trying to keep up with him sometimes.
Yes please look at the ElvisINFORMATIONNETWORK website ~interviews and features and also if you have the time, my many Topics and Posts at
ELVISTHEKINGSCOURT website, I'm sure you will be inspired with many more
questions for me.. Thankyou for your interest.... SincerELy REX
EPS: I tried your U-tube video, but it is no longer available in the UK,
something to do with a copyright problem, not sure if you can still access

I love reading your stories. I'm about to leave but have to get this in here before I leave. On August 18 - he was wearing 2 piece, multi-colored shirt. We were sitting to the far right right at stage. I held up a little red scarf and he came and I handled it to him and he gave me a kiss. I was wearing a 2 piece white suit with fringe on the arms (YA'LL DON'T DARE LAUGH AT ME)!! I want to say it was during Love Me but after this many years I could be wrong. I think we were the last table on the right....do you have any of this on tape?
When I get back this evening I will be reading your stories - can't wait to read them. Me and a girlfriend from high school were in Memphis March 77 and saw him on his motorcycle - Ginger was on the back with him that time. I can just imagine how much fun you had chasing him all over the country - what I would have given to be just a few years older back then!!

My projector is out of action at present (Drive belts need replacing-and no
one seems to offer repairs on Old Super 8mm projectors anymore)
as soon as I can fix it, or pick up a replacement, will check out to see If I
was filming when your little Red Scarf was waving infront of Elvis' nose..
Yes I did tape that show (dinner and Midnight)
Two photos, from Orig: Slides (August 1972)
The more Multi coloured shirt, Elvis also wore with the White Pants, as
shown on the Green Shirt double picture.
This Green shirt, always shows up much darker on Photos, than it actually
was. Being much more vibrant, and brighter greens. I took out the Red
spotlights on the Left Picture, and enhanced it in various methods, so
that the RIGHT picture is much nearer to the actual colour this shirt was.
(Its also been made sharper with more clarity, than you usually see it.)

OM Gosh!!! Do you know how long I've been looking for you????? Did you tape all of both shows????
Haven't listened to them in awhile, but yes both and all.. (27 shows in all)
taped.. and 4.25 hours on Film (August to September 1972)
Thats around 70 Super 8mm cartridges (3min and 20seconds each)
Unprocessed it fills a suitcase, so I threw away almost all my garments
to get it home, including the Shirt I wore backstage for my Elvis meeting
(so now I can't remember what colour it was. HA!!)
How long have you been looking for me???
If I knew I was that lost, I would have asked you for directions !!!
Did you remember the Elvis shirt in previous Post?
have you caught up with all those LINKS about me yet?
will be back shortly.. SincerELy ... REX
EPS the Anne Nixon Topic that started last night, and is now removed
today. I had a really strange Email about Anne Nixon from a very
weird Lady, she sort of sounded very very young, and asked me strange
questions about Anne, - I was wondering if this is the person pretending
to be her. NOW! (The last I heard Anne Nixon wasn't on the Internet at

her mind however...)

Rex,
If you have me on video getting a kiss from Elvis - that means I've been looking for you for 37 YEARS!! You've been lost a very long time my friend!! Ever since he died I have gone to Memphis and looked through every photo, every book - hoping someday I'll find it. I know someone out there has a picture or a video SOMEWHERE and I'm really hoping it's you!! I wish you would have asked me for directions a long, long time ago! I will anxiously be waiting for you to be able to view these films and get back with me. Or, you can send me the film and I'll go find someone with a machine to watch them on....(I know, when hell freezes over - LOL)!! Do you know anyone with a machine that would let you watch them??? Can you tell how bad I want you to have this on film????
I was 17 the last time I saw Elvis in Vegas in 12/76!! It's too bad we didn't meet then cause I probably would have run away and gone with you to chase Elvis....LOL 2 weeks on the road following Elvis - oh to me that would have been a dream come true! But, I am thankful for the times I did get to see him. Best memories a teenager could have and my memories are cherished!!!!
I'm reading your stuff now - you were soooooooooo LUCKY!!!!!! Hey - did you ever meet a girl in Vegas called Patricia Ann Cervone? She was from New York - early 20's and was out there for every performance for a week or two at a time. She was one of my pen pals and I've wondered what happened to her. She sent me some pix she took at MSG - very, very nice girl - and as a 14-15 year old kid - she was my idol cause she was living my dream!!!!!

=TotallyInsane;297715]Rex,If you have me on video getting a kiss from Elvis -
that means I've been looking for you for 37 YEARS!! [/COLOR]
WILL TRY TO VIEW IT AS SOON AS I CAN, THEN WILL GET BACK TO YOU
(A lot of times I filmed female Elvis fans giving Elvis gifts, glasses on water
exchanging scarfs "like Anne Nixon's Moment") you sometimes couldn't carry
on filming - due to security, if someone took a flash picture close to you -
you just had to stop, -
One time a Lady told me off for allowing my Camera
motor to wir'rrrrr in her ear, during FEVER in Feb'73. No one turned me in
or stopped me ever in Vegas. (not so on tour one time..) - Please don't think
a 100% I have you on film, lets just say its 50-50 at the moment. Some
other fans may have a photos of you, I know of 700+slides from Aug-Sept'72
but lost contact with that lady. (I only have a dozen or so of them, but i did view them all in feb'73 on a 4 foot screen) She took them on Weekends only, but including Friday night. and the Sept labour day holiday end of season.
Or, you can send me the film and I'll go find someone with a machine to watch them on....
(I know, when hell freezes over - LOL)!!
YES, NO CHANCE - The films are part of my Life. Sorry....
I'm reading your stuff now -
you were soooooooooo LUCKY!!!!!!
When on Kings Court, and you finish the Links I gave. Go to top "SEARCH"
put in my Name, and it will show you all the other posts and Topics I
have been involved in. (some on 1972) - Don't forget to register, as all
my Posts have many pictures and articles added to them, and you won't
see them if you can't log on as a member. (EIN are still working at getting
all the pictures back on the features)
Hey - did you ever meet a girl in Vegas called Patricia Ann Cervone?
She was from New York - early 20's and was out there for every
performance for a week or two at a time.
She was one of my pen pals ..dream!!!!!
I had many letters from Patricia, she wrote many articles in my WORLDWIDE
ELVIS NEWS SERVICE WEEKLY, in fact after Elvis in Omaha(1st July 74)-
I flew home via NY, and that day visited her for most of the day, her MUM
made the biggest Italian multi dish Dinner I have ever seen. Did you know
her Black Cat was called ELVIS, so it was Elvis this and that all afternoon-
Until her dad got in from work, when it was BLACK'Y you S.O.B (VERY funny)
In 1977 when CBS was about to be broadcast in the USA, I flew to NY to
arrange it to be taped on a semi-professional Video "Sony Umatic" - the
Dutch FC President, flew in the day after me, (John Brus) and then the day
before the CBS on TV, Pal Grunland from the Norway "Flaming Star" club
arrived at NY airport, John and Myself picked him up and went straight to
Patricia's Home for the Evening, which was a wonderful time...
Pal by the way meet Elvis SIX times, he was at MSG, also the Press Conf:
and Backstage with Elvis, to give him Police Badges and a gold disc from
Norway. He took film at all 3 things, and a good few photos.
The day of the CBS broadcast - we taped it in our Hotel in Queens, and
2 videos got made in Manhatten, and North of NY - The following day the
North of NY video (the best one) was used to make a 16mm film negative
-due to an error the print was made without sound, but I had the Negative
and magnetic track, so got a release print made at RANK Film Lab near
London. (for 14foot wide film festivals, across Europe, long before any
Europe TV channel showed it)
Hope you are all finding this of interest.. Tell me more about yourself
please, so its not quite so One Sided... bye for now "REX"

E - Mail = REX.MARTIN57@YAHOO.COM 2 0 0 9 ~ A Longer Note from “R e x”
At the Start of JANUARY 2004 I retired from running a Very Large Retail Shop in Fleetwood. For the past 5 years, I've been working through various Photo, Slide Show and music projects on a Computer for Myself and my Mother.
FIVE TRIPS TO SEE ELVIS from 1972 – to – 1977 ( TOTAL = 64 Concerts )
1972 - Vegas (Mid August for 9 days and then short 5 day break - then all NINE September shows including 3am Show and meeting Elvis 'for 8 minutes' on the final night just before the 8pm Dinner show.. )
1973 - Vegas (February, - including the 15th Feb left stage, then closed the show twice. Plus Riot Show on 18th)
1974 - TOUR (June – picked up at CLEVELAND the whole of the ground floor moved forward & the Front rows were raiding the Low Stage Left – Right – and Centre from start to end “Wild” ~ (Took one day off to visit with a good friend) then all shows up to the 3 shows in Omaha, Neb. Ending 1st July )
1976 - TOUR (March from all 3 in Johnson City, Tenn ~ 6 City tour –then on following day flight to Memphis)
1976-GRACELAND-saw Elvis many times going out thru Gates - at the Airport, Elvis/Linda took small Lear Jet up circling over Gracelands, & Leaving Cinema early AM, + saw him over the side Graceland Church fence. Plus met VERNON outside his home. + Talked to Sam Phillips on Phone in Alabama (Twice) - then sent his son to meet me.
1977-TOUR (March ~ Norman Ok, to Alexandra Lousiana - bit of a strange tour, flew home thinking he's still touring – but when I get home find out the following day Elvis cancelled and went to his Memphis Hospital)
Plus around 22 sightings most in Daylight
Coming out Back of Hotels getting into cars - 9 times -
(One time I was in the Lobby inside security because I was staying on the floor below him),
Travelling over a rise 'slowly' on a Arena Campus road towards Venue ~I had a portable floodlight !!!
(Twice in White Ford LT and once standing next to Driver of Greyhound Bus)
going down ramps into Arena (3 times) /Once Arriving at an Airport
(Bloomington) & all the Memphis sightings
The next thing is to start Converting all my Live! Film to Digital High Definition on Hard Drives and edit plus upgrade the Sound and Vision Plus add Titling to Blue ~ Ray D V D' s. (Its a very Big Project – and will take some time to complete) Besides my own film, I have a lot of Footage that I arranged other fans to take for me. (for Instance ~ Almost a complete show with Original Sound in Seattle 12 Nov'70 White Fringed suit with Green Beads “not multicoloured as TTWII”)
Also have an original film professionally taken IN FULL TRUE COLOUR (silent) from the September 1957 Tupelo Show.(Not a fan film + Not on the Tupelo DVD last year although some of it was in Blk & Wht) I've had this for 40 years..
A film of Elvis leaving the Philly Hilton for the Afternoon show (in Daylight)'74 ~ wearing Peacock Jumpsuit with Long Black Leather Coat over his Shoulders shot in 64 frames per second, so when shown back at 18fps, super quality in Slow Motion. (As seen in 'Essential Elvis' magazine picture spread recently)
None of the 26 + hours of film I took has ever been transferred direct to any type of DVD format. Some of it is around on VHS, many generations down on how the Original Film looks. (Also I didn’t put out the VHS stuff)
My QUEST - INFO WANTED
The Elvis fans -Janet Barker + Alan Trower (from England) + Gitt Nymand & May Britt Berlind (from Sweden) ~ Taken backstage to meet Elvis with me in 1972 – to re-live the memories of the event with them. +”Bill Pallister (Virginia Beach, Virginia ~USA)” + “Martha Collins (California? REX MARTIN'S - ELVIS PRESLEY WEEKLY NEWS SERVICE.
Issued between 1969~1978 this fantastic little mag was produced by UK super fan Rex Martin and proved to be one of the most amazingly accurate sources of up to date info ever published on any artist. Initially the newsletter was produced on a duplicator machine and without any photos but crammed full of reviews of Elvis live concert performances from the fans who actually attended the shows. Later issues developed into a more sophisticated photocopied format sometimes spreading over four five and even six pages to an issue.
Many times Rex would follow Elvis on his USA tours and send back full details of each show for inclusion in the newsletters. Reports of those shows would land on subscribers doormats within a couple of days of Elvis' performance thanks to Rex and his newsletters. As the years (and issues) progressed it continued to offer on the spot concert reports but had developed into a booklet style but still full of those fantastic concert reviews plus photos & scans of newspaper cuttings devoted to the concerts reviewed and the life and movements of The King before/after leaving the stage. Just about every live concert Elvis performed was reviewed in some way within the pages of these newsletters, from the songs he sang, the things he said and the suits he wore. Attendance figures, backing band/vocalist info, celebrities present, newspaper reviews of the shows and loads of other great titbits of detail were all contained within Rex's newsletters. Snippets of info would be crammed into every piece of available space on the pages as Rex tried to report on just about everything happening in the Elvis world. Advance reports of Elvis upcoming single and album releases from around the world would be reported on in this little publication which is still fondly remembered by long time Presley fans.
As a reference source for detailing or studying Elvis' live performances these magazines are invaluable and never fail to astound with the sheer detail included in just about every issue. Published in small qualities of a few hundred they have become true collectors treasures as very few have managed to survive the ravages of time. It's now been around thirty years since the last issue was sent to subscribers.

Hey Rex,
Is Elaine Coons related to Virgina Coons? Virigina is the one that collected money for the heart association (heart or cancer I can't remember which) and got to meet Elvis. She gave him a crown and a list of people's names that made donations and then she sent us all that donated money to the cause a picture of her meeting Elvis. She made the donation in honor of Elvis. Is this the same lady or someone related to her? If it's the same lady - do you think she's still living? Also, do you now know where Patricia Ann Cervone is?

This is 2 stories (or maybe even 3)
Virginia Coons passed away a good few years ago - I'm afraid.
She meet me at LA airport in 1972 and 73. I stayed at her home for a
short while (until some Elvis Aussie Fans arrived, then I stayed with a
good friend of hers) - Yes Elaine is her daughter, she ran an Elvis Mag.
called KalidEscoPe for a while, which was a great Info 80s mag, that looked
similar to Rockys Strictly Elvis.
She has been on my ELVIS QUEST FLYER since Sept08. so far no leads
about her any place. Sue Wiegart in LA hasn't heard from her for sometime.
Yes Virginia is the Lady with the award and framed list of names of Elvis
fans that gave money towards Elvis Aloha Cancer Fund (in his name) my
name is one of about 30 on it.
She was in LEN AND ROSEMARIE LEECH's Hilton room just hours before
going backstage to meet Elvis. Len took a photo of the award on a table
along with the Frame. Also YANIQUE DISKIN (Tom's wife) was in Len & R.
room every day. (I had a corner to store equipment Ha.!)
If you read the 3rd part of my interview at EIN about the riot show on the
18th Feb73, you will know a little more about YANIQUE and her being in
Len's Room, she told many story's about Elvis in his homes...(wish I'd
written them all down now.
Virginia of course stood next to Elvis many times (in photos) outside his
LA homes in the 60s, she had a really large Photo collection.
I have 2 5x7" photos taken of Virginia with Elvis, has everyone seen them??
the first Elvis' eyes are closed, so they took a 2nd one.
I have a lot of Virginia's 60s pics with Elvis, including the ones when Elvis
is breathing in Laughing gas from a balloon.
Virginia is mentioned in Jerry Hopkins, orig book on Elvis, in the Fans Chapter
along with myself and Bill Kaval. This chapter has been removed for the
recent reprint of both of Jerry's books into ONE.. I was writting to Jerry
before he published the 1st book, when he was working for Rolling Stone in
London. My special Preview copy of the book from him has the words...
To REX, with thanks My Collaborator. Jerry.
Patricia stored some posters for me at the end of the 70s, the last time
I saw her was at her parents home in 1980 in Long Island. I lost contact
with her after that.. - She caused some controversy in July 1977 when
she sent out an OPEN LETTER to Elvis and a lot of Elvis Fan clubs, about
what Elvis was doing to Himself (quite insightful looking back on it) Some
Clubs didn't Like her for doing it, but worse was to come in the Wests book
and later Goldmine's hatchet job.( on Elvis and John Lennon) thank god he
isn't still with the Living...
Patricia's family home in the late 70s, caught fire, from Xmas Lights that
had been placed on a tree next to the house, which shorted out into the
House. All her collection was destroyed, and I think she lost heart after that.
A year later the house had been rebuilt, and I couldn't tell the difference
between the New house and the Old. I didn't put her on my Quest Flyer,
but it would be interesting to chat to her again.....
See told you it was a few stories..... SincerELy REX

Gail,Virginia Coons daughter is a member on here. Just check her profile. It is EChristian. I do not know if it is Elaine. She is very sweet and has put some of her personal photos in the gallery. You can probably PM her. She said her mom died in 2002. She put some nice photos in the 60s section awhile back. I commented on a few and she wrote me back and told me about her mom.

Hey Rex,
My name is on that list too -it was Gail Davis. I was so excited she got to meet Elvis. I never met Virgina but I still have that photo of her and Elvis!! I had a picture of the list of names but don't think I still have that.
We really need to find Patricia - I'm so sad to hear she lost of her collection! I can definitely understand her losing heart over that!!! Man, that would just be horrible!

A real name at last, thankyou.. SO WE GOT FRAMED TOGETHER !!!
I found the re-production of the letter Virginia received from the American
Cancer Society (5th March 1973)= Virginia did a sort of News-sheet review
of her Elvis Meeting, with details about the Cancer Project, and Award.
(I've scanned that below) I've seen the 5x7" pic of Elvis and her recently
-but didn't locate them last night.. An Oval version in a German Magazine
I've added a new background to, and a Computer Frame, matching it to
her Top.(which is now below)
The event took place on:
SATURDAY 17th February 1973, before the 8pm show.
Have Optical Character scanned her Review, (it was Page 5 of issue # 105
but I don't think I got the rest of the pages) ~ to follow my post on TCB.
Will look for Patricia's Long Island Address, but she & family may have moved.

VIRGINIA'S REVIEW...
Dear Elvis Fan:
Hi - just a note to relate the outcome of our efforts to honor Elvis with a Trophy for his dynamic Satellite T.V. show and the Kui Lee Cancer Fund Drive.
Our deadline was February 16th, since I had reservations to see Elvis perform at the Las Vegas Hilton on Saturday, February l7th. and had to have everything ready to take along. After the last mail delivery on Friday, my daughter,Elaine, began compiling the names of all contributors into alphabetical order - by-State and Country. These names were then typed in Capitol letters onto parchment paper - 11" x 14" - and sealed into a gold-leaf frame - to be presented to Elvis with our Trophy.
(The Trophy was engraved; "ELVIS - YOUR WORLDWIDE SATELLITE SHOW WAS DYNAMITE - WE LOVE YOU - SOME OF YOUR LOYAL FANS" - 14th Jan1973)
TOTAL COLLECTIONS - $320.40 ~ TOTAL EXPENSES - $330.00
TROPHY $ 32.92
ENGRAVING 8.40
PLAQUE (FOR NAMES) 12.08
CHECK TO CANCER FUND PHOTO FCR CONTRIBUTORS $200.00
POSTAGE 25.00
PARCHMENT PAPER 1.00
ENVELOPES 6.00 ---------------Total - $330.40
Friends, who wish to remain anonymous, made up the difference between the collections and expenses - and 1 thank them. Thanks, too, to Linda Webster for a fantastic job of contacting so many fans. ......and to Delores Short, Gene Hewitt, Jim Hannaford and Y.G.
Rosemarie and Len Leech of New Jersey, (contributors, also) whom we met in Las Vegas, took a fantastic picture of THE TROPHY, THE NAME PLAQUE and the CHECK. Names are clearly visible (unless you're like me and require a magnifying glass) and Len has graciously loaned me the negative to allow everyone a chance to obtain a copy for their collection. The price is 50c, which includes postage.
Now - on to the actual presentation; It was just before the dinnershow on Saturday evening (about 8:30 P.M.) when I discovered that I would be allowed to present the Trophy to Elvis. Close to a nervous breakdown over this delightful developement, I soon found myself waiting in the hallway of a large dressing room area - backstage - just across from the elevator that would wisk Elvis to the stage. Armed guards admired the Trophy - saying It was prettier than an Oscar.1 But I wasn't listening to them very attentively for I could hear Elvis laughing and I knew he was in his dressing room -
down a short hallway, and around a corner.
A door opened - there were quick, booted steps - - and Elvis was walking towards me. Needless to say, he looked his usual, handsome self even though he was still suffering from a severe touch of the flu. As you can see by the enclosed photo, he was already dressed for the stage. Mr. Tom Diskin made the , introductions and told Elvis of our donation to the Kui Lee Cancer Fund; showing him the check and telling him we were donating it in his honor. (You can see the check in Mr. Diskins hand as he handed Elvis the Trophy.) (That's the plaque, with the list of contributors, that I am holding)
Elvis accepted the Trophy - very pleased - and held it up high - turning It around and around for/inspection as he said, over and over; "It's beautiful -beautiful !" I called his attention to the plaque and he studied it for awhile, too, as he said; "Nice - very nice."
All to soon, he was given the word that he was due on stage. As he turned to enter the elevator, he smiled that preciously crooked little grin and said; "It was a beautiful thing to do. Tell everyone 'thank-you' for me." Then he was gone and a magic something in the air went with him - - to the Stage of the largest showroom in Las Vegas.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pictures: 17 Feb:'73 Elvis Meeting. + 2pics late 60s, both with Virginia, the
Little Girl, is probably "Elaine" + then reproduction of Cancer Soc: letter.
