also being a yorkshire man :D where can you get a good deal? for flights accomadation etc
also you don't need to sell me on the idea of the jack daniels distillery cos im already there

Hi Earl....I'm in Yorkshire too.....been a couple of times...for a Birthday and Elvis Week..... hoping to go back in Nov/Dec for the Christmas Lights a Special time to go imo.......we have been looking at flights and at the moment they seem very expensive...hoping to hang on and get a better deal later on.....hotel depends on whether you want to be up at Graceland or downtown.....about ten miles away.....being near Graceland is great for the early morning walk up.....but apart from Graceland there is little else up there....Marlowes restaurant is in that area though, they will pick you up in their pink cadillac limo....and the Elvis experience dining there is cool.....
Sun Studios and Beale Street are both downtown as are all the other Elvis sites....Audubon Drive, Lauderdale Courts, Pop Tunes, the Overton Park Shell, Humes High......as well as the Lorraine Motel and Civil Rights Museum.
My advice is to go to Graceland at least twice.....the first time you can't take it all in....and Sun Studios gives me as much of a thrill and a buzz as Graceland...almost...it's fantastic......maybe I'll bump into you there....lol

thanks for the info jeanelvisgirl and all others who have taken the time to reply.
i don't get much chance to browse this site very often so please excuse the late "thank you" message.
your right about the flight prices just booked for florida in june this year found it much cheaper to fly to new york first then from new york to florida takes a few hours more but massive savings.
What kind of weather conditions could i expect in november? will it be warm or wintery?

I've been to Memphis in 98, and stayed at the Wilson World hotel, right across the street from Graceland. Not too expensive, and 20 TV-channels with Elvis concerts and movies. I have no idea if the hotel still exists, and if it does, if it's still as nice as it was back then.
SUN studios was a bit overrated in my opinion. They keep telling you feel the magic inside, but I never felt it. Maybe cause it's not the original location and not the original equipment anymore?
Tupelo was nice to see, it made me realise where Elvis really came from. He had nothing and gained it all...
What I didn't see, and still regret till this day, is the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Jackson. I have no idea if it's worth visiting though...
My best axperience in Memphis, was a jamsession on Beale Street with the Beale Street Blues Band, so if you're a musician, try to do that. Looks great on your ressumee. :p

Sun studios is exactly where it was when Elvis went there...the tiles are original.....each to his own....but I certainly felt the magic there - not just from an Elvis point of view but from everything else that happened there......

Wasn't the studio where the café is now? At least that's what they said back in 98
