They weren't friends more like touring buddies when they were touring together and both at Sun
Cash has said that he liked Elvis but he was older and married while Elvis wasn't

after Elvis left Sun they didn't keep in touch and only saw each other a couple times after that. So no they weren't friends

I agree with Brian. I don't think that they were really close friends - only 'touring buddies', although I think it's very cool to hear Elvis during the 8/10/70 while singing "Mystery Train" say: "I feel like Johnny Cash, man!"

I saw a clip once where on Johnny's Christmas special in 1977 he and Carl Perkins and Jerry Lewis sang a gospel song in honor of Elvis. And they also did the song We Remember the King I think sometime in the 80's.

Somewhere I recall reading Johnny relaying a story about Elvis giving him marital advice that apparently worked...as far-fetched as that may sound.

Thanks for the clip, reEL interesting...

Elvis sang a few lines of I WALK THE LINE , just after introducing him
to the Audience in Vegas.

"I KEEP A CLOSE WATCH ON THIS 'CASH' OF MINE"

For the MILLION $DOLLAR$ QUARTET - A lot of talk about not
hearing Cash on the Recordings, and he left just after the Picture
was taken. (making it a TRIO really)

A few years ago, Lisa did a MTV special about her favourite Pop songs,
and the third one was JOHNNY CASH's "HURT" (not the same song as the
Elvis one) and one of Johnny's last songs, very moving also including
the Video for it.

What show was this?

I was not aware that Cash had attended any later Elvis show.

Elvis also did an attempt (but fun) medley of I Walk The Line/Folsom Prison blues, one we forgot to mention.

Enjoyed that interview with Johnny Cash.... it`s even sadder, listening to him talk about Elvis and Roy Orbison, now that he too has passed away.
Is it true that Elvis introduced Johnny Cash to his future wife June Carter??...I`ve heard it said several times...just wondering how true it is.

So glad everyone enjoyed the Johnny video:)

SleepyJack........I saw the movie "Walk the line" not long ago......a VERY good movie, and in it we see how they meet, they just ran into eachother at a concert.....don`t think Elvis was even there. I found the clip from the movie where they meet for the first time......

In his autobiography he tells how he met June and there seems Elvis had nothing to do with it. According to him he already liked her since he saw her singing for the first time so years later when he met her backstage at the Opry he simply came right over to her and told her "You and I are going to get married someday".

I heard about that story where Elvis asked for Johnny's advice it was around 1970 many times..
I dont find it far fetched knowing that Johnny and June had one of the greatest showbiz marriages!

Doesn't Johnny say in the video elvisia posted that after 62 he never saw Elvis again?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Cash had been at one of Elvis' Vegas shows, we'd have heard something about it by now.

Cash, like Sinatra I feel, was conspicuous by his absence.
