View Full Version : 1971 Vegas Summer Festival Review...

This post and the one below were in the Dallas paper in August of 1971. Back then, major newspapers reviewed his Feb. and August Vegas shows. This engagement was the 1st time that I ever saw him in person, so I loved this great review of his show. It's nice to see he was still soooo great, no mention yet of weight problems and sloppiness that would come later on the down road. Enjoy the reading.....

First of all, was the article describing the red lion suit? Also, Rosanne, do you remember the suit he was wearing?

The night that we were there(08/17/71) he was wearing one of the Cisco Kid suits. I'm not sure which suit he is describing because he never tells the exact date of the show that he attended. He only makes some reference to "halfway through this engagement"...so it's unclear what was the actual date.:blink:

I agree with you Diane. I pull these out and read them sometime to remind myself that he really was great. We spend so much time disecting where it all went wrong, it's nice to be reminded that there was a time when he was the best!(y)(y)
