This a beautiful song. I think it is one of Elvis' finest vocal performances of the 1960s (with It Hurts Me). Elvis' phrasing is perfect and he sings each word with real feeling even when he sang it as a home recording, he really enjoyed singing this song. I can't understand how it ended up as bonus song on the "Speedway" soundtrack.

A real gem.

Suppose no rose would ever grow again
Suppose no brook would ever flow again
Suppose no star should ever glow again
Suppose you didn`t love me

Suppose there were no bees or butterflies
Suppose no bird should ever cross the skies
Suppose the sun should never never rise
Suppose you didn`t love me

It`s impossible to imagine a world without a star
But imagining no you is more impossible, by far
Suppose the Springtime never should arrive
Suppose the tall green trees should not survive
Suppose I had no wish to be alive
Suppose you didn`t love me

It`s impossible to imagine a world without a star
But imagining no you is more impossible, by far
Suppose the Springtime never should arrive
Suppose the tall green trees should not survive
Suppose I had no wish to be alive
Suppose you didn`t love me
Suppose you didn`t love me

It's a great song, no doubt about it.(y)(y)(y)

But it's not the only great song that ended as a bonus song on a soundtrack album.
What about "Tomorrow Is A Long Time" (my 60s favourite) and "I'll Remember You" on "Spinout".

THESE ARE GREAT SONGS TOO. REAL GEMS THAT WERE NOT FULLY APPRECIATED IN THE 60s.

Can you imagine what a great album this would have been in the 60s with all these songs on?

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT ALBUM.I THINK 1966/67 WAS AN IMPORTANT TIME IN ELVIS' CAREER. HE RECORDED SOME GREAT SONGS AND I THINK HE STARTED TO BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS STILL GREAT MATERIAL FOR HIM TO RECORD AND IT SHOWED IN HIS WORK IN THE STUDIO. THE FTD ALBUM "SO HIGH" HAS A GREAT VERSION OF "TOMORROW IS A LONG TIME" - A FINE VOCAL PERFORMANCE. THOSE CRITICS WHO DISREGARD ELVIS' SONGS IN THE MID 60s SHOULD TAKE NOTE.

You're right, there was great material for him to record.
Think of songs by Dylan ("Tomorrow..." or "Blowin' In The Wind"), maybe The Beatles, upcoming Kris Kristofferson,...
Unfortunately his music output throughout this part of his career is reduced on the soundtracks or better the film songs. But he was in the best singing shape in the 60s. Think of "That's Someone..." etc. And the saddest part on it is that RCA and Col. Parker had to take the blame for.

I think 1966/1967 was the beginning of Elvis starting to record music again which he found artistically challenging. I think you can notice a difference in his voice on songs like "Big Boss Man" and "Giutar Man". There were a lot of unfufilled possibilities!

SUPPOSE is indeed a beautiful song!!! (y)

That is one song that I wish had been included on the TOMORROW IS A LONG TIME album that RCA released a few years back! Most of the other so-called "bonus songs" like I'LL REMEMBER YOU and the title track were included on that album and all assembled like that proved that despite the movie songs that Elvis had to record during the later 60's, he was still able to record some FANTASTIC music!!! :D

TCB!

Could not agree with you more.....he was on the comeback trail and it would have been fantastic for these bonus songs to have been put together for an album on their own.Who knows....could have had another chart topping album
with these together.

YES, ELVIS PROVED TO EVERYONE THAT HE COULD STILL RECORD GREAT MUSIC. AND HE STILL HAD MORE TO COME WITH THE "68 SPECIAL" AND THE LEGENDARY MEMPHIS SESSIONS OF 1969. WHAT A LEGEND!!!
