This is my first thread on here that I can remember.
Just wondering which version of Suspicious Minds does everyone like.
I have three I like. The 1969 Vegas Version,1970 TTWII Versions and 1972 Versions.
Really being honest..........I love 1969 Vegas and 1970 TTWII Versions because of the raw energy that Elvis puts into the performances, and the excitement he generates. So tell me what you all think.

I VOTED FOR 1970 TTWII VERSION.
ELVIS GENERATED SUCH POWER AND PUT SO MUCH ENERGY INTO THIS PERFORMANCE. I ALSO LIKE 1969 VERSION ON THE "IN PERSON" ALBUM WHEN THE SONG GOES FOR 7 MINUTES. THE WAY HE KEEPS THE TEMPO OF THE SONG WITH HIS BAND AND BACKING SINGERS IS AMAZING.

The 1969 versions of "Suspicious Minds" are best because Elvis seemed to stay true to the original tempo of the single release, IMO. The versions from August, 1970 rank a close second - but I detest the song after 1970 because Elvis just seemed to speed the song up way too fast.
The Aloha version isn't tops in my book, either. (n)

Yes................the 1969 stage versions are real gritty and hard driving. You can really feel Elvis getting into it.After hearing it...............it feels like I've just performed it myself
it has me on the edge of my seat and out of breath.
I have to say since I did not "see" the 69 version as he performed it-I will go with the 1970 TTWII. I do enjoy the 69 live album cut more to listen to-than the 70 version.

I personally voted for the 1969 versions!!! (y)
While they were a little long in my opinion, they were a bit slower in tempo which I think suits the song better than the faster versions of 1970 and beyond. :hmm:
And I have to also add that he probably should have dropped the song from his concert lineup after the Aloha special. As was custom with Elvis, whenever he began to tire of performing a song he would rush through it with an attitude of indifference (there are certainly exceptions to this, but for the most part I have found that this is how Elvis was). I believe that after the Aloha special, this was the case with Elvis and SUSPICIOUS MINDS and he probably should have just dropped the song from his song lineup and used the space in the lineup to perform something else.
Just my opinion... :hmm:
TCB!

Mike I think you are correct-the 69 version was much closer to the original studio cuts tempo and it was better I think also

the 1970 version in my opinion were just rockin
Those are the ones i believe really work very well for the song
the slower version for the single to me loses the energy that elvis showed in thats the way it is.
i think had the song been done like he did it on that movie, "Suspicious Minds" would have stayed at the number 1 spot longer

The 1969 versions are blistering, with 1970 a close second. He seemed to sour on the song after that. IMO.

I voted for Vegas '69. By '70 he's already starting to throw away the song at times. In '69 he's totally committed.

I think it`s hard to better the versions from `69.....and I love hearing it described as his new record just before the music kicks off....still gives me a little buzz!(y)(y)

I would have loved to see the energy and passion he put into the 69 version on stage. The fact that the 69 live version is so much longer, must have made it much more physically challenging.
