A woman that could understand no matter what happend in elvis life

Needed to get off the pills and for good.

Friends that weren't acting like kids

just some examples..what do you all think.

I think if he had a woman as strong as his mother for companionship, that some things later down the road would maybe not have happened.Someone to stand up to him and not back down.......but also understood what he was going through to show that "tough love " to him that he needed.
He also needed Parker gone after a certain period also....I keep saying around 1973-74
he should have been dropped. After Aloha.....Elvis really could have played anywhere in the world......and I think without Parker. He needed better songs to go through to help get him back on the charts during those last years.
And to really have the will power to get help and one to really stick to helping him with the drug problem....along with helping himself.

1. A strong wife
2. Fewer and more mature people around him
3. A different manager after the army
4. A little more inner security

Someone trustworthy to talk to, to share absolutely everything with, when/if needed.

Someone to always be there, no matter what, and to know that person will always be there, to try and help. Someone who genuinely cares, and tries to understand.

Someone to hold and to say: "it will be alright, hang on". Someone to love.

Of course he recovered!

If he hadn't, do you think he could have gone on to do so well in the army? To make more movies? Records? To marry and have a kid? To return to the stage?

No, he never fully got over his mother's death (no one ever fully gets over that; they get through it) but he recovered. And recovered enough to go on and live his life.

He dealt with it as best he could and moved on with his life.

Drugs aside, he lived another 19 years after his mother died. That is hardly the stuff of someone who "died" when he lost a parent.

I think he needed more self confidence to trust his own instincts and to take a stand when he knew it was the thing to do- not be swayed so easily and then second guess himself.

You took the words right out of my mouth Kimmi

and for someone to say "don't be so hard on yourself, you're fine the way you are"

These came into my mind:

- more free time
- a good doctor who really can take care about him
- a better manager
- more rest
- a place where the crowd not follow him

I think mostly he needed his family back. But he needed friends that would help him up when down not let him alone or bring him down. But I'll say that he really just missed and needed Cilla and Lisa the most.

I know it sounds Harsh, but I think his fans who attended his concerts in the latter years needed to walk out, stop buying tickets etc.... He needed to know that the fans wouldn't tollerate everything he did. Shock tactics!!!!!
He wouldn't listen to anbody. No woman, friend, manager or family member could get him to listen. But if he thought he was losing the support of his fans, who he thought the world of, maybe......

I think if you truly love and care for someone, you need to sometimes tell it like it is...tough love (like i'm sure he's Mum would have ) Especially when it comes to matters concerning their well being. So I guess IMHO, Elvis needed stronger, more genuine people around, who would stand up to him, united, with the intention of trying to help him when he needed it. He may not have liked it, and probably gotten mad, but i'm sure in time, he would have gotten over it...once he realised their intentions were good. It may have helped.
