View Full Version : how did elvis really feel about his stepmother Dee

Elvis cherished his mother and no one could replace her. So when his father re -married Dee Stanley elvis was not happy. I think that Elvis only accepted her so he did not upset his father who he loved. She was not the type of person Elvis would confide in or get close to. It must have been hard for Elvis to have to accept a "stepmother" after his mother died.

What do you all think?

Elvis didn't think anything of Dee Stanley and it was reported that he regretted he had not taken her first call in Germany and asked her to call back when Vernon was there. I think he accepted that Vernon needed someone else in his life for his happiness, but Elvis didn't need Dee in his world to make Elvis himself happy.

I agree no-one could replace Gladys in his life. They had a deep bond. And Elvis had a good first impression of Dee when he first met her. He didn,t attend the wedding right? He could see right through her crooked smile. It just burns me about her allegations about elvis and his mother!

I AGREE 100%. ELVIS DID NOT ATTEND THE WEDDING. AND IN MARIAN COOKE'S BOOK ELVIS TOLD HER THAT HE WOULD NEVER ACCEPT HER AS HIS MOTHER!!! HE DID NOT NEED PEOPLE LIKE HER IN HIS LIFE. IT BREAKS MY HEART THAT ELVIS AND GALDYS COULD NOT BE TOGETHER FOR LONGER!!!!

I agree with all of you.I never liked her myself from what I've seen and heard from her.
That s*** ticked me off when she stated that Elvis and Gladys slept together in a sexual manner. It's funny that everyone she named that could supposedly back her story up are all dead. One being Alberta....one of Elvis' cooks that he called Alberta VO5.
She's just a *****........the whole Stanley family are strange to me.

No one could ever take Gladys's place! As for what Dee stated about the close relationship between elvis and his mother, it's just sick and immoral(n)

i often wonder if he would have acted differently when Vernon would have chosen someone more caring and sincere????

Elvis didn't like dee and imgaine wished vernon never married her at all. I can see how he felt though, he just lost his mother and now dee was in the picture.

Elvis could see that Vernon made a very poor choice in marrying Dee Stanley and eventually Vernon saw that for himself.

My father did the same as Vernon so I can relate to how Elvis felt. There was never a bond between my step mother and I and my sister. She married our dad thinking he was rich...same deal.

Grieving lonely men are a prime target for this type of woman.........

It is sad when a person lowers themselves to tell such blatant lies about people who are not here to defend themselves. And make sure the ***** got a contract out on her for it.
You just don't do that kind of thing without it coming back to bite you in the hiney. Fame and Money were her motives, not the truth.
Could be she wanted Elvis herself or maybe she had a quilty conscience because she did such things?
Elvis by that time could probably take one look at a woman and know if she was predator or prey. Dee was a predator. Poor Vernon didn't know what hit him.

She is lower than dirt in my opinion. All the Stanleys are after money.......no one would know a **** thing about them or knew they were on the face of the earth without Elvis
and that's only because Vernon was stupid enough to get in with her.
I know everyone on here will agree that no one in the Elvis world mainly us fans can not stand Dee and her clan.

I know in my relationships with my step fathers-it can be tough to have them suddenly thrust into your life. You have no say so-they are just there and you have to adjust to them. Since he loved his mom so deeply-it must to have been very hard indeed to adjust and accept. (if he ever really did)

Dee meant nothing to Elvis and Elvis probably tolerated her . . . no relationship there whatsoever! Gladys was Elvis' one and only true confidant and there was a special mother son bond between them, as for many years she was the only one there for him.

I think Elvis hated Dee...I believe in my own mind Dee knew what she was doing ad wanted to get that "Presley" name. In my own mind I think Dee wanted Elvis but knew she could never get him so she went after his dad.

None of Elvis' friends or family liked her so.

I'm sure he could have found someone much better then Dee? I'm sure she saw a good thing, when she saw it too.Like lots of $$$ in having a husband like Vernon and an equally famous step-son like Elvis.

Vernon, for all his faults, was very naive.

And a good man.

He saw what appeared to be a loving, family woman (a trait Vernon appreciated); a woman willing to care for him and provide him sanctuary. A woman to help ease him through his grief. Although the bloom had gone off her, she was still an attractive woman.

Oh, and she had a great a-s-s.

Like I said, it's a guy thing.

I so agree Shelley. I'm sure he could have done better than Dee. She was not so attractive and leaving her husband and (4 children?) just because she saw $$$$$ and nothing more...

I can see why Elvis didn't like her...

I heard Elvis hated Dee but I can't speak for Elvis, but I agree no women could have taken place of Gladys, you could clearly see by pictures and video clips how strong the bond between Elvis and Gladys was. I haven't really looked into Vernon's marriage to Dee all that much so I don't really have an opinion of her.

Thanks for posting these two videos of Geraldo interviewing Dee Stanley Jen. I've never seen them.

Ho ho ho......that woman is so sick and I also got such a kick out of J.D. shaking his finger in her face and calling her a liar.:lmfao:...and when the woman asked him if he had been a teenage boy who was having an incestuous relationship with his mother would he tell anyone? His answer was pricelous "Ma mind cain't go there". :lmfao::lmfao::lmfao: I was also proud of the way Joe and Janelle stood up for Elvis and his mom. Janelle seemed like a very sweet woman and I know she was a friend of Elvis' family for many years and knew them well.

The whole idea is a crock made up in Dee's mind to get back at Elvis' family.

Anita has no recollection of Dee's fall, "when pregnant" whatsoever. (If Dee was pregnant, the pregancy would have been in danger anyway, if she aborted after a fall, that's just the most ridiculous claim. More than one person would have known (besides Anita), as we all know what happens when one loses a baby ..... ).

The Stanley boys said that their mother was paid $100,000.00 to write this book, and they themselves, ran their own mother down for her attitude, to Joe.

The woman Publisher was trying to cover her own butt, she was worried with regard to how the interview was panning out, did you see her face? The blood was rushing from it. She quickly took up for Dee saying that Dee's story is about her life, and her sons, she could see/sense that they were in trouble with their credibility with regard to how the interview was panning out, and that she would lose her invested money in this book.

Dee saying Elvis was gay...... (Mods this is in context, I hope you don't mind ................)

i read that somewhere, Tim, maybe it was one of the Stanley boys' books. As far as Dee being a stepmom, aren't we forgetting something? Elvis was in his 20's when Vernon married Dee [and yea, she was something of a looker - then she opened her mouth!]. Elvis didn't need a mom. In fact that family would still be in Tupelo/Memphis housing if it weren't for Elvis! Miss Gladys brought up her baby boy and brought him up right - as we southerners say!
Dee was not in any position to give Elvis advice. IMO!!!

Happy Birthday Elvis!:happybday Enjoy a cold one!:pepsi:
