If you aren't really into the soundtracks (or collecting) then buying the soundtrack FTD's aren't that essential. That is of course, when you already own the soundtracks on cd or LP.
I love the ELvis soundtracks, so I am extremely happy with the 7" FTD releases.

Its all down to whether you are happy with what you already have Curtis.
I don't think that there are better releases for this material.....terrific artwork....nice booklets...great alternate takes ( not all un-released...some appear on boot releases) and in most cases extremely good sound.....
I think that they are pretty essential buys.....but that is just my opinion....i wouldn't be without them (y)

i think you'd better not to buy it,.. unless you wanted to have it double :)

The sound quality and packaging on the movie soundtrack upgrades from FTD are EXCELLENT, and I think are worth the money! Plus, it's nice to have all the outtakes from each movie in one place along with the original soundtrack! :D
So, while I guess I can't call them ESSENTIAL, I do have to HIGHLY RECOMMEND adding them to your collection, if/when you have the extra money to do so!

First off, let me say .......... that I initially felt just as you do regarding these FTD Movie Soundtrack re-releases.
My solution (since I'm skeptical, by nature): Purchase one or even two and see for yourself. I recommend starting with "Viva Las Vegas" and another of your own choosing. Then, you yourself will truly know.
I was pleasantly surprised, on many levels .............. but it really comes down to whether or not one likes EP's Movie Material to begin with.
"Viva" is essential, ................. then I'd choose another soundtrack from one of the movies you happen to like.
Good Luck. I personally have bought all of the FTD's, save one, .......... and I'm personally not an Elvis Movie Year fanatic either. I enjoy the FTD soundtracks and there is enough "new" and interesting material on them to make me feel they are genuinely worthwhile.

I guy's and thanks for the info.
I all ready have one of the movie soundtracks, it's "Harum Scarum" i have liked this one.
And i just might get the rest of them to, (just to have the unreleased music.)

I'd have to agree with the advice so far Curtis....whereas most are'nt ESSENTIAL LISTENING some are really well done ie:
Harum.....Viva.......and one of my favorites Fun in Acapulco.
I think alot depends on how much you liked the original soundtrack....one i do recommend and its not an FTD...its Blue Hawaii Extended edition...its official and its a great listen. (y)

While Elvis' soundtracks certainly are not my favourite listening, I have put a great deal of time and effort into in-depth reviews of all the Soundtrack FTDs, what they contain, audio quality etc.
Have a look here at EIN. (http://www.elvisinfonet.com/ftdreviews.html)
Should you buy them? Not necessarily! :wiggle:
Are they fun? Absolutely. (y)
Ernst even managed to make 'Paradise Hawaiian Style' (http://www.elvisinfonet.com/paradisehawaii.html) a great listen - and that was a woeful LP and terrible movie!!
Buy the essential Viva Las Vegas (http://www.elvisinfonet.com/vivalv.html) first and then go from there.
