December 3 is the 40th anniversary of the first airing Elvis’s 1968 television special. This extravagant entertainment special features Elvis in some of his greatest and best-loved moments captured on video. Elvis in black leather and the giant red “Elvis” letters are just a couple of iconic images that come from this program. Below is a celebration in photos of some of the great images from the '68 Special

No video was shot for the 'blue shirt' rehearsals - only photos exist of that rehearsal. I believe they were trying to work out camera angles.

Still, it would be nice to have video, even security cameras or something.

You mean no video was shot as far as we know, could be one of the few unreleased footage EPE has in their posession. Most likely it wasn't, or they would have included it in the 68' Special 3 Disc Boxset. But never say never.

Just like the sound rehearsals from January 13th 1974 with Elvis wearing the Blue 2 Piece suit as we have seen from the Madison Square Garden Interview from June 9th 1972 just before his opening Night.

Exactly....or they would have released it on the sigle disc set.
