'As Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis"FTD
"On Stage"
TTWII SE
and the recent VIVA LAS VEGAS 2-CD with the cracking unreleased 1969 concert which features brilliant sound.

All these in addition to the forthcoming IN PERSON FTD -should be a cracker!(y)

"Live on Stage in Memphis" partially because that was an 8-track that we had when I was a child and we listened to that over and over again in the car. Elvis' voice is so very powerful on that album, it still gives me chills.

As others have already said.....

'On Stage' - fantastic album

'As Recorded Live at Madison Square Gardens' - great show

'Elvis In Concert' - a must have album for the later years (y)

Are you looking for the mainstream RCA releases Vegas King, or the FTD CD's?? :hmm:

In terms of mainstream albums:

ELVIS IN PERSON AT THE INTERNATIONAL HOTEL is a great album!!! The opening night jitters are gone and by the time RCA began recording the shows toward the end of the engagement, Elvis was one cool. confident cat up on that stage! Just a remarkable album!!

Of the Madison Square Garden albums, I personally recommend AN AFTERNOON IN THE GARDEN just because the sound quality is much more superior to the original MSG album.

And as J.J. pointed out, ELVIS IN CONCERT is a must have for the diehard fans of the later 70's period of Elvis' career! (If you can get a hold of the 24-bit remastered version of this album from Japan, it is AMAZING and definitely worth the extra time and money to track it down!)

Now if you are looking at the concert FTD CD's:

IT'S MIDNIGHT is an excellent look at Elvis' often discussed Aug./Sept. '74 engagement in Las Vegas. This CD is great because you can hear some of the excellent performances that Elvis gave without all of the lengthy and rambling monologues that plagued this engagement.

NEW YEAR'S EVE is Elvis' historical performance in Pittsburgh on New Year's Eve 1976. While the sound quality is sub-par, as it is an audience recording, for the historical significance of it, it is worthy of an exception.

BIG BOSS MAN is a great concert from the Las Vegas engagement of March, 1975. Great performances and Elvis is in a great mood and great voice!

ROCKIN' ACROSS TEXAS - DISC 2 was recorded in Ft. Worth, Tx. in the summer of 1976 and is without a doubt one of, if not the best, concert that Elvis gave in 1976 (in my opinion, of course). Elvis is in great form and shows no signs of fatigue, as he did throughout many performances in 1976.

I FOUND MY THRILL is an excellent show from the Jan./Feb. 1974 engagement in Las Vegas with Elvis pulling out some songs from the early 70's and re-introducing them into his concert lineup like SWEET CAROLINE and YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVIN' FEELING

Just a few of my favorites for you to consider!!! HAPPY HUNTING!!! (y)

August 12th 1970 Midnight Show.

Disc 2 of the three disc set TTWII.

One of the best shows ever.

As for FTD I would say As Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis.

In the bootleg world, Closing Night 1970 from Madison.

There's a lot I like. I'm not a great fan of the later concerts but all my faves have already been mentioned. I also think the sit-down and standup shows of the '68 Special are great these are on the 'Complete '68 Comeback Special'. Back to concert albums though I think that 'The Hampton Roads Concert' is a good one.
