CABIN CREEK, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It was anything but a silent night in eastern Kanawha County.
That's because an Elvis Presley impersonator stopped by the Cabin Creek Volunteer Fire Department Saturday night to help spread some holiday cheer. The event served as a fundraiser, with proceeds helping to provide a Christmas party for kids in the Cabin Creek area.
"I just hope we can help some needy children somewhere along the line,” Elvis impersonator Everett Holley said after finishing his set of some of Mr. Presley's hits. “That's really what it's all about."
"There's a lot of kids with a financial situation who don't have a Christmas, and we figured if we can help a little bit, that might bring a little happiness to one child," Cabin Creek resident Betty Workman said.
"That's what life is, is to be able to help your fellow man,” Holley said. “That's what Elvis did so much of. If you go back to his history and study him out, Elvis was good to everybody. Elvis gave more away than I've made in a lifetime."
The party is next Saturday night. Money raised at tonight's fundraiser will go toward purchasing gifts for the children.
