I can't remember the first album I bought.
I did buy the boxset Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits V 1.
I got told off for buying that boxset for 6 which was a weeks wages back in the early 70's.
The first album might have been Almost In Love.

As a family had several lp's such as Elvis in the 70's.Though I think the 1st album I purchased was "Clambake" (just like rmk101) in 1975 for a fathers day gift (it was on sale and in my price range --cheap).

The 1st cd was Feb 1970 On Stage.I bought this before I had a CD player.:D
that was in May 1990.
I now have that many Lp's and CD's that I've lost count.

Cheers

The first Elvis album I got, it was a cassette tape as a christmas gift in 1987, I was 7 years old, and it was new Elvis hits compilation released here in Mexico called: Elvis: Pop hits. (I was a fan since 1984 when I saw TTWII on TV, but I relied on radio, and TV re-airings of TTWII, Aloha from Hawaii and the HBO special ONE NIGHT WITH YOU for awhile )

After that, the only thing I asked for, on birthdays or any other excuse to get a gift, for the next 2 years, were Elvis records: A Legendary Performer Vol. 1 & 2, Golden Records Vol. 1, I Got Lucky, Country Feelings (somebody remember this rare one?) Elvis Presley (the second album), Elvis: Rock and Roll (A Mexican release) and Moody Blue, come to my mind in a row as the first Elvis records that I got.

But the first ever one, that I bought with my own money was: On Stage, on a cassette tape around 1989.

First CD's were around '92, In Person at the I.H. and The Sun Sessions, I bought both on the same day.

Next year I even took money for lunch to get the 50's box.
