While everybody speaks about FTD right now, I would like to start a wishlist for RCA.

We have The Silver Box, Gold Box, Platinum Box. Wouldn't it be great to get a Diamond Box, with more alternate takes, I hope it will see the light of day one day.

And what about a Box following up the Live In Las Vegas Box called Touring The Nation, with songs from diffrent soundboards on there???

What are your thoughts about this ????

THE "DIAMOND BOX SET" -- INTERESTING IDEA HANS! :hmm:

I especially like your idea for a "Touring The Nation" box set. Unfortunately, I doubt RCA would consider releasing a box set of different soundboard recordings for the general public -- this sounds more like something FTD would release for the die-hard fans.

RCA is very cautious about what they release to the mainstream public...which is why I was very surprised that they released the LIVE IN LAS VEGAS set!! Lately, RCA has said that the box sets haven't been selling very well....which is one reason why they didn't release a box set in 2004. Plus, it seems to me that RCA is more interested in releasing single CD's which are less expensive for the casual CD buying fans. Generally speaking, a casual CD buyer is more likely to purchase a single CD of Elvis' music than to shell out the bigger bucks for a box set! So, I really think that RCA will focus primarily on single or, maybe occasionally, double CD sets for the near future at least. The other thing I have noticed is that RCA tends to like to play it "safe" by releasing CD's containing Elvis' biggest hits, as opposed to the lesser known tracks (which is a HUGE shame, in my opinion -- there are SO many underrated gems in Elvis' catalog, which I feel deserve to be heard by the public -- but that's A WHOLE OTHER STORY! ;) ). So, I would suspect that you would probably see another greatest hits package on a store shelf before you would see something like a "Touring The Nation" box set! NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH YOUR IDEA....personally, I think it's a GREAT idea....but it's just not an idea that I see RCA attempting to release to the public anytime soon! (n)

I really like the Touring The Nation idea, but I too think that RCA would pass up the opportunity :'( .

If, however, they decided to make one, I would hope it would be an 8 CD box set that would have a concert from each year beginning with the tours in 1970 and going through 1977. Also, have booklet enclosed with rare concert photos from these years.

Another idea, and PLEASE don't shoot me for thinking this, would be a 2 cd set of remixed and remake versions songs, this way possibly more younger people could be attracted to Elvis' music and continue carrying the torch for his work (just like we all do :D ) after we are long gone.

Considering that the "Diamond Anniversary" passed on 1995 - maybe we will get something on the 75th Anniversary , whatever that is called !

Since the "Sun" box set is due out next year ,I guess we cannot expect anything like another box set for another year atleast-

The nearest to "Touring the Nation" maybe a DVD set if it is released by Warner/MGM/Turner..... good idea though !

Glad you share my opinion on TOURING THE NATION Big Boss...and I like your idea of an 8 CD set with a show from each year! But, considering this would most likely be a set released to the public, I simply can't see RCA releasing an 8 CD set for fear of poor sales due to the cost of purchasing such a mammoth set. The best we could hope for, in terms of a project like this, is MAYBE a 2-CD set containing the best live performances that RCA has in their vaults!! But as I said before, RCA would most likely choose to release ANOTHER greatest hits compliation before they would even consider a project like this, which is truly sad... :'(

As for your remixed album idea, my opinion is whatever helps to keep Elvis' memory alive for future generations (within reason, of course) is definitely worth looking at! (y)

Like the idea Hans (y) but i agree that its just not commercial enough to be considered by RCA/BMG....after all they want to make as much cash as poss. But i do like the idea of the remixed (done properly) 2cds... we really need to keep the King in the minds of the younger cd buying public.
Im not sure if we need to go the way of JXL.... :hmm: but along the lines of FTDS Too much monkey business would suit me...which way would you go on this ?
