Is there a book that really captures what Elvis's life was like in Tupelo? I ask because I feel that anyone's early years form what we will be like, how we may respond to things our whole life.
I've heard many stories, about that time. These are stories that gave me a real understanding about Elvis. I know I have a unique perspective and I've always wondered how much fans know and really understand??

- How about one of Bill Burke`s books , "the Tupelo Years" I think it`s called . not sure though. Think it was released in the 90`s and should be a quality product.

This is the best one I could think of aswell.

Amazon.com usually has it in stock.

I think the book "Elvis Up Close- In the words of those who knew him best"
does the Tupelo years justice. It interviews people who lived in Tupelo (many still do) with the Presleys- relatives and friends about what the life of the Presley family was like. Heres a small review of it.
Elvis up close is oral biography at its best- rich,intimate,first-hand moments related by more than 150 of Elvis's relatives, friends, colleagues, trusted employees, and business associates -- all interwoven into a fascinating, full length portrait of one of the most celebrated entertainers in history.
