We all wonder about many things in Elvis'life. We read horrible stuff,we read about wonderful generous things he did.he never gave interviews ..and always talked about his career.Never about his family. Now and then he would say small things about Lisa,Cilla,or his father. But I wonder why he never talked about his mother. Not that I doubt about his love for her,but is kind of strange that he never dediocated a song to her,or wrote a song fopr her.I know he had someone writte a poem for Lisa and another one for Vernon.Also..why being Mrs Gladys Presley there are no photos of her on the walls in Graceland(Exept for one of her and Vernon.)Being Elvis'mother I wonder why there are no songs,no poems,no paintings.(Im just wondering)

My guess is and it's just my opinion, that Gladys, death was so devestating that he didn't need to see her picture on every wall to remind him of what a precious person she was TCBGIRL. But imo his biggest tribute to his mother was by not letting Vernon move Dee Stanley into Graceland, because to him Graceland was the home he bought for his mother, and of course himself!

Hi David

I think besides his mother another reason he didn't want Dee living at Graceland was because he disliked her so much.

Yeah, quiet strange that after Glady's died Elvis seemed to have avoided talking about her. Maybe it was so devastating for him that he chose to just forget? But, then we really didn't what was behind the man's mind or if he cried in his bedroom alone. Just my thoughts.

I belive that ELVIS loved and adoring his mother more that neither to nothing nor nobody in the clear world.
After his death (GLADYS)he was avoiding to speak on her,then....¿in order that to rake his photos as the whole house?was not necessary, remembered in your mind and your heart, but I belive that his absence also was killing him little by little, not wise to live without hes was going without course for the life.
On August 14,1958 ELVIS said:
Where these mother?that these there, you have not died, you cannot leave me,mother your said to me that me to retired, your never promised it i´m not prepared, mother I´m afraid.(A KING ALWAYS DIES FOR HIS VASSALS?

We all know that Elvis was a very private person and he always wanted to keep his private life away from the media. He missed his mother so much and was very devastated by her death. I'd never doubt his love for her and I'm sure he had her somewhere in his thoughts all the time. Not sure whether he completely got over her death, but I hope he confronted the fact that she was gone and went on with living his life. Portraits of her on the walls, dedicated songs or written poems for her would have just reminded him of how much he had missed her :( But that's just my view on this.

After losing my mother it was so painful for me to see her pics every where on the walls , I just put a framed one beside my bed on the table. perhaps it was the same for him too. He sang " mama liked the roses " for her mom.

Elvis experienced a very intense period of grieving after the loss of his mother which appeared extreme to some people but it was probably very healthy and might have set him up better for facing the rest of his life without her.

Perhaps he felt that sentimental song-dedications etc would trivialize something of tremendous personal importance to him.

You can bet that she was never far from his thoughts and in a way, his decision to permanently remain at Graceland suggests that he did not want her to be.

He kept all her things in the attic of his home and he visited her grave as often as he could. This we know. There are a lot of quotes about his mother while she was still living, about how she was his best friend, that she was stern but loving.
When he appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, Mr. Sullivan did not want Elvis to sing Peace in the Valley, but Elvis put his foot down, insisting that he had promised his mother he'd sing it for her since it was one of her favorite songs. And as we know, RCA had to rush about to press this song when fans ran to stores looking for it.

Everyone loves their mom (normally anyway) but no matter who of the insiders discusses the bond between them it is always described as "super close" Now you do not get much agreement among all the insiders MM, Priscilla, other relatives etc...so that tells me he loved his mom and his mom loved him-deeply.
