Was studying to be an electrician. Seem to be obsessed with law enforcement early only. My best guess, would be one those.

I've heard Elvis say in interviews he was studying to be an electrician.

Music was such a part of his soul (even before Sun Records), I think Elvis would have eventually maybe found his way into a gospel quartet, once his voice had matured. A man with a talent such as his and his unquenchable desire to make music would HAVE to use it musically in some way.

I think his occupation still be a musician either gospel or a rock n roll singer, someone else would eventually discover his kind of music even if he didn't walked in to Sun Studio...

Plus he has something unique like no other when he sang , as he said ' I don't sound like nobody'.

Music was in his soul for sure and I think he would have ended up singing gospel with a quartet (most likely with the Stamps) or gone solo.

Maybe since he would have been drafted whether or not he found his way into Sun Studios, he might have chosen to stay in the armed services. He did love those big guns and he was supposed to have been excellent in the 'war games'. I don't know anything about Army pay, but it was no doubt a little better than his truck driving pay. But then, he still would have been fighting his homesickness.

I thought I read somewhere that Elvis wanted to be a Police Officer.Of course I really couldn't see Gladys allowing her own son to become a Police Officer.
