My parents took me to Memphis and to Tupelo in May of 1972. We were driving up to the gates at Graceland and they were going to make my picture in front of the gates. Well, Uncle Vester saw us and opened up the gates and said "ya'll come on in, Elvis ain't here but he won't care". Verbatim..that's what he said!:lol: So, we went on in and he took us up to the house and let me go all around the house making pics of everything and looking at everything.:D Uncle Vester was a hoot!!(y) He said "Go on up there to the front door and act like you live here." :D My parents said "one day she intends to". I have some great pics that I will post. I was looking through them the other night and you will never believe it, but on the driveway, to the right of the front door, was a "long black limousine.":blush::blush:

I was there in '70, '72, '74 and then not again until after his death.:sad:

He really was...almost like a caricature!:lol: When we were there in '72 my parents were talking with him while I was looking around EVERYWHERE. I overheard my mom say "I can certainly see that you look like that nephew of yours". Well of course I wanted to die!!! After we left I said "I can't believe you told him that...he looks NOTHING like Elvis!!" My mom said "I know that..but it sure made him happy and bought you a little more time to roam around".;);):P:D:D

Yes..he was getting ready for the June tour. We told Uncle Vester that we would be in Ft. Worth in June and in Vegas in August and he said "I'll be staying here to make sure things are run smoothly".(y)

Awww Rosanne that story is so sweet ...They all seemed like such sweet down to earth people!! I have Uncle Vester`s book he wrote many years back and it was really good!! So sad to think that they are all gone now.:'( Things are so different at Graceland compared to how it use to be.

How can you expect us to show you some respect when you come on here and tell us you know Elvis` buddies without telling us HOW you know them!! Yet someone comes on here with a photo of themselves standing in front of Graceland and you do not believe it! Where are your photos hanging out with the Memphis Mafia?? I do not know who you are going to ask about this photo.....Vester was there that day and you are not going to find him!! If you are looking for proof that it is Graceland, any FAN will tell you that it is...

Thanks for showing these fantastic photos.

I went with the British Fan Club to Graceland on 29 August '72 and we all had a great time there. Vester was there with us, he signed autographs we talked to him, had photos taken with him nothing was too much trouble.

After I took my photos of Graceland and Vester and looked around the grounds it was a pleasure to just sit and relax on the lawns, it was so peaceful.

Yes, it was Diane. I go there now and feel his presence, back then I felt HIM. I stood there thinking he "just put his hand on this door a couple of days ago".:D:D There I go with that DNA thing again. I just know some day they can take mine and Gail's scarves and clone the man!!!! I'm taking advance reservations for anyone that wants to come along for the ride!;):lol::lol::lol:

Thanks Liana! When Gail made my pic back in April I had forgotten about having the same pic from 36 years earlier...so it's not as if I did it on purpose. What I found funny was that I was standing in about the same position. Only this time I didn't have Uncle Vester saying " go on...act like you live here".:lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao:
