Hi Bradley how are you? I hope your well

I like the song 500 miles as well, I like it by Bobby Bare. I wish Elvis had made a folk album in the 60's and made an actual studio recording of this song.

I played this track once and I did not like it. To me it sounded it was just repeating one line of this song for 3 minutes or more.
Is this song the same as Ten Thousand Miles by Michael Holiday?
I know the title is different.

Thanks so much for that one. I just think it says so much about Elvis. He was "the man" but in this song, he lets it naturally roll and allows the other singers voices shine. His voice is complimenting and never over-bearing. The song yes may be to some repetative but it is often the way with this type of song. As always, the meaning of the song and the essense of what was being done, took priority. I think it's beautiful and perhaps has more meaning to me than some. This is what Elvis used to do with the men when he first started playing and singing. Just sittin down casually singing things that had meaning to their lives. It is more about need to sing a certain song and partake in the connection that is made with folks through that song. Way way back to the beginning that is what his music was about this. It was about singing and playing music with others to give our souls strength in the words of the song. It was about sharing the connection the families had in their world. It was about lifting others up with that music. It was about simple times, simple people, who's stength came through music and each other. I'm not sure others who have not really heard about or focused on those times will fully get it. I am brought back to the memories some told me of those times sitting around doing these simple songs, I am reminded of the stories of the days in Tupelo, and early Memphis. This is the special connection my father-in-law shared with Elvis. Any time they met up after, when Elvis became famous, that connection was still there.

Yeah me too. That would have been real nice. Also I would have loved to hear Elvis sing "If I Were a Carpenter"

I fully get it! I always get a longing for 'the early days' although I wasn't even born then. I feel that those times were something very special.
And I always admire Elvis when he does what you said above:
he allows the other singers voices shine. His voice is complimenting and never over-bearing. It's simply wonderful!

Agree so much, he had such flare but then he was very humble to. I loved that about him. He was so great to give credit where credit was due to others.
