Elvis lived a fast-paced, highly unusual lifestyle than any of us can imagine. His life has been the topic of more books than we can count.

From these written accounts, what time of Elvis' life did he appear to be the happiest, both professionally and personally, and why? (please keep it positive and clean, folks!!)

I think that time was when Lisa Marie was born.

From 1968 (Lisa Marie) until early 1971.

No question about it, the evidence speaks for itself.

I voted for 1954 - 1958 because fame was still new and exciting for him.

Professionally, he had some awesome moments that were proceeded with one of the lowest career times in 1968 - 1969 ('68 Comeback Special, recording at American Studios and the recordings that found their way to the top, and his return to live performances in Las Vegas which was absolutely phenomenal!!!!)

Personally, he got married and had Lisa Marie during this same time.

I think he was feeling pretty darn good about himself and his career.

I think 67-71 was when Elvis was happiest!

I think that was a special period in Elvis' life, where both personally and professionally he was in his ultimate !

Yes I agree, 1968 ( Lisa' birth and Comeback Special).
I also think the year he bought Graceland for his Mum ( I think 1957). I
think showing her Graceland for the first time would have brought him so much
joy.

The happiest EVENT in his life may have been the birth of Lisa. But I vote that the happiest TIME of his life was 1954-1958. Indeed, everything new and exciting, acknowledgement, his parents (MOM!) still there to share the benefits of his success and him being able to do things for them, take their burdens away..... He must have felt very fulfilled and proud and happy that especially his mom was there to witness all that.

I can't pick one. Yes, the beginning when his mom was alive. And then when he got married and had Lisa that first year. I'm not going to say all the way till 71, because the marriage broke down not long after Lisa was born.

I agree.

When I first got interested in Elvis, and looked up old clips of him on YouTube, that's what struck me - how happy he looked back when he started out, how much he seemed to love what he was doing.

I think 1956....he was finally living his dream..... hit records, TV Shows, the start of his movie career, which he would have high hopes for.....everything to look forward to...and sharing it with his parents, especially his Mum.....

I just think he was never as happy after his Mum died.

I think Elvis was just like anyone else, he had his some of being happy and sad aswell.

Nobody has mentioned how up his mood was in the November - December 1976 circa, he had some motivation with the new love of his life Miss Ginger Alden, and he lost a huge amount of weight so by 12-31-1976 New Years Eve in Pittsburg I think he was feeling' pretty swell again.

Most obvious times was the birth of Lisa Marie, when he returned home from the army in March of 1960, when he signed with RCA in November of '56 etc......

I think that his happiest period (since his mum died) was 1967-1971, but IMO after that he had never found the happiness he searched for, for the rest of his life.

I also voted for 67-71. I have no doubt about it he was the happiest in that time!! Not only becuse his daughter was born, but he finally got back to his fans, his audience. And he was absolutely in top physical shape (like never before or after) and full of energy.

He was happiest performing. When he did the same songs night after night, he tired of it and turned to prescription drugs because he could not be more creative with the songs, and wore them all out.

Its strange how in 1976 the stage was the last place he wanted to be as we can tell from the shows especially in the summer months but in 1977 it was the only place he wanted to be..

i voted 67-71 cos lisa was born he had just got married and his career had taken a turn for the better with the 68 comeback and his return to live performances with new songs new musicians and a future that looked bright happy and it was the end of the movie era so i think it must have been a happy time for elvis with so much good positive stuff going on

It seems that I'm one of the very few people here that voted the period 1960-1966. I guess I thought that Elvis looked great at that time and although it wasn't the most creative period of his life, I believe that he was just enjoying life then before the big responsibilities came to his life. This is my opinion...

I agree. I think its tough to choose between 54-58 prior to his mothers death and 67-71.

I'm sure 1956 was one of his best years ever !! With starring in his first Hollywood movie Love Me Tender, he had just signed with RCA in November of '55, and he was the King Of Rock N Roll.

I would think that the years 54-58 would have been Elvis' happiest. He was able to share all his wealth and fame with the two people he loved dearly, his mom and dad.

67- 68, I cam from Chile!
I do not speak much English.
I think that elvis was more successful between 1967 and 1971 because at that time national Lisa Marie, moreover, even at that time was with cilla.despues that elvis is separated and started to decline gradually! bye!

I think Elvis had many times of happiness and many times of unbearable sadness....For example one of the happy times was when Lisa Marie was born. When he married Priscilla...One of the sadness, when he lost Lovey........When Cilla and E seperated......I just hope to god that at least one time he was truly happy....

I think 54-58 because his mom was still in his life and his career had just started. I think after his mom died, he did too in a huge way.
