Sam Phillips said about Elvis: "He tried not to show it, but he felt so inferior. He reminded me of a black man in that way; his insecurity was so markedly like that of a black person."

Do you think that Elvis remained insecure throughout his lifetime or did it vanish after he was no longer poor?

Do you think that Elvis' poverty or growing up in the slums contributed to his having feelings of inferiority and did these feelings continue throughout his life or did he lose those feelings after his popularity soared?

Much has been written about this in the many biographies and interviews about this part of Elvis' since his death.

That's a tough one to answer.I think everybody is a little insecure.I know I am but like I said that is a tough question to answer.

When he got drafted of course he was he thought his career was over, just like when he came back in 68 for the NBC special, and on July 31st 1969 since it was his first show live in 8 years. Just like anyone we all get insecure at times and he had reasons to be both. insecure and inferior.

I think he was insecure in some ways and very secure in others-just like most people.

I think that there were times where he felt insecure like most people. After all he was a human being like the rest of us! But I have the feeling that he was more insecure in the last few years of his life, especially when he gained all that weight...And it's so sad.

i agree with what you have all said,.... he was human and of course could be insecure at times. however in his prime he had little to be insecure about, the looks, charisma, style, fame and wealth.
