Just got me a new Phono Cartridge for my turntable.
i got this cartridge at best buy.

on this cartridge replacement i have great frequency, so here what it has.

I play my turntable all the time...In fact..I'm listening to "Promised Land" LP right now..the quadradisc version....sounds great...
it's also fun listening to my collection of Elvis radio spots...also.I recently got an AKAI top of the line 8 track component...I listen to Aloha and Welcome to My World...all the time..it's alot of fun..
I wish I had a reel to reel...then I could listen to my copies of "On Stage","sOMETHING FOR eVERYBODY",and "Moody Blue"..(it's 3 3/4 IPS)

I think the overall sound was better on LP's, when the early cd's came out....but now i wouldn't agree.
The cd sound is so much improved now i wouldn't want to go back to vinyl. ( from a sound point of view )

Its nice to hear that people still do play them though... :P If i had the money...i would begin collecting again. That i do miss....hunting out the rare ep's etc used to give me a lot of enjoyment.

I only kept around 15 ep's (originals) plus the splendid ep collections....those, i will never sell....but then again...probably never ever play either (h)

I had that one when I was a kid. I worked in a diner doing the dishers and my boss let me in charge of the music. He had a radio/cassette/LP set, so I used to play my records there. One of those were the Guitar Man LP. Great...

But I'm very happy with my CD's right now. It's so much easier to handle and to keep.

I wish I could still play my LP's, but my new stereo won't accept my turntable, when I plug it in there is no sound. So Lucky you Curtis!!!!

CD's rule, but playing LP's always keeps their sharm.

They do have something for stereo that don't have a phono plug.
this plug can hook up to your aux slot, i see i can find the site so you can check it out.

That's just the problem Curtis, I did plug it in to my aux slot, but when I open the volume, no sound, all I hear is the sound of the needle ON the record, maybe it's my stereo set that doesn't accept older turntables.

CDs do rule, but like Hans was saying, records just have this undeniable charm. CDs are incredibly convenient, and I like to play them when I have other things going on. But if I am trying to relax and don't have a lot of other things I need to focus on, I love to unwind by involving myself in the activity of playing records.

Vinyl being the dominant medium throughout Elvis' career, it seems like the most appropriate way to listen to his music, especially in the case of the original albums. I admit that is a romantic or nostalgic notion, but it works for me anyway.

Regarding the sound, I hear arguments for both sides, each claiming to have superior sound citing technical data, a lot of which I don't fully understand. I won't deny the consistent clarity of CDs, and there may be hard facts which dispute this, but to my ears vinyl can produce a fuller sound. And this can't really be quantified, but I think its sound could also be described as 'warmer'. Again, I may be wrong, but I don't care--I like what I like.

Of course vinyl is more of a collector's item; it's more enjoyable to look at, has the nostalgic element, and it is simply more substantial. But in my case, although I do have a few Elvis records which are sealed and will likely keep them that way, I am primarily interested in owning them for the purpose of playing them. (y)

I go back and forth.
i do have few cds of Elvis music like the box set's.

i also play the lp's that haven't been put out on cd.

i all ready have all of his movies soundtrack, so i won't be getting the ftds.

i am thinking on doing my version of the complete movie soundtrack collection.
from my lp collection. without the out-takes.(if i have the room for the out-takes then i well put them in. :D

I do miss the size of the old albums....thats for sure. They looked alot more value for money for some reason. :P

The artwork looked all so much more impressive too on a 12" cover....even if the covers themselves throughout Elvis' career didn't do him justice. You only have to look at some of the pictures that could have been on the lp Covers......but thats a different topic i guess :)

As for playing the LP's...i couldn't now if i wanted to...as i no longer have a turntable. But the downside for me would be the selecting of tracks...especially if you only had a limited time and wanted to play a selection of tracks from different albums.

The cd player of course aids you there.....i have a 5 cd player....so you can put five cd's in and then just relax and let your remote control do the work.......lazy ? yep :P A big advantage over Vinyl ? Yep :P

But i do still love the old vinyl....so i am not in any way knocking those who prefer it/play it. Its cool....as long as you are listening to Elvis...thats good enough for me :D
