Sunny Honolulu, Hawaii was on August 18th 1965 - 43 years ago today - the location for a meeting between Elvis and Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits. At that time Noone was in the States for a series of concerts and Elvis was working on his new motion picture “Paradise, Hawaiian Style".

Reportedly, Elvis wasn't too fond of Peter Noone--he (Elvis) thought that Peter had a huge ego. And he (Noone) probably does.

Am I right in thinking that some audio from the meeting turned up on the "Elvis talks back" bootleg???

Yes, among others.

The audio is quite deceptive though. Noone comes across as a bit of a smartarse, but later he said he was very nervous about meeting Elvis and was thrilled to have done so.

I remember reading an interview with Peter Noone from a later time (possibly in the English "Elvis monthly") and that was the impression I got, that he was really nervous about the meeting and that some of the play-acting by Elvis and the boys only made it worse.....but he still said that it was a proud moment for him. You can`t even trust what you hear on bootlegs now?!!!!
