As Elvis said on Jan 14th 1973 on stage in Honolulu Hawaii. "Alright I'll do em, all 429 of em I'll do 'em". Perhaps somewhere around there, I'm sure thats not the exact accurate count but its a long list i'm sure.

I thought there was over 700 songs recorded.
How many with different versions or live songs?

the number is quite high, that's for sure, but some sources also count those songs that are informal - i.e. Froggy went a-courting - recordings and other sources count the songs that he may have sung a line or two from (n). i'd go for around 5 or 600 or as Elvis said 'all 429'! :D

For a complete list of Elvis's recorded output (including alternate takes and the like) you can go to Keith Flynn's awesome site below:

It's tough because it all depends on what you want to count. Do you include the home recordings, rehearsals, partial live songs? I think the mid 700's.

That's what I heard a while back or read it in an all Elvis mag or book that it was a little over 700 songs. I loved at the Aloha show when he said that he would do all 429 songs.
And that was in 1973........so who really knows.

Because Elvis did a lot of outtakes, would these be counted as whole songs?
I did think so. There are full songs that has not seen the day on release.
Is it only official released songs they count?

The OP (original poster) is only asking for the studio recordings. For that info, all one needs to do is (as I mentioned in a post above) go to Keith Flynn's (http://www.keithflynn.com) website--it's all there.
