I was thinking about Rod Stewart and his recent success at reinventing himself with the Great American songbook albums, this has given me a thought about Elvis.
Throughout his career Elvis showed great diversity recording rock n' roll, country, ballad and gospel albums but never an album of standards I know he recorded some like it's impossible, what now my love, it's over but I would have liked for him to record an entire album of big band type ballads say in the mid 70's. Since we did an Elvis blues album and blues songs thread does anyone have any thoughts on a 12 song Elvis album of standards?

Is anybody on this message board familiar with and like standards?
What songs would you include on the album?

I look forward to hearing from everyone on this

I would appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions

Theres many songs that the general public have no idea Elvis recorded stuff like Loving Arms, It's Easy For You, Way Down, For The Heart, Lady Madonna, etc the list is endless..i would put stuff like that on it..but I think it would be hard to reinvent Elvis with him being dead and all...the public for the most part has an image of elvis in their head of a fat junkie in a white suit eating a burger..and the etas dont help matters at all.
