Mine goes to EOT..with all the different suits, new songs, the live footage I just love it most..

Mainly because by this point the band and Elvis had gone through their transition period and were well polished and everything was smooth sailing...elvis was getting ready to do the madison square garden shows and was at the height of his career IMO

I've only "officially" seen "Aloha From Hawaii" and the 1968 Comeback Special, but I have seen parts of "Elvis on Tour" and "That's the Way It Is" on Youtube. From what I have seen, I would say "That's The Way It Is." Very tough decision seeing as how I liked them all.

I go for Elvis On Tour, though Aloha... is very close. I love the feeling of being on an Elvis concert everytime I feel those (or any clip from a concert) shows.

My favorite will always be TTWII. I love to see him at rehearsal. It's more natural and entertaining, his hair a mess, being funny etc.

I go with TTWII 100% all the way.(y) It brings back some of the best memories of my entire life, and for a little while I am back in Vegas, Elvis is thin and drop-dead gorgeous and all is right with the world.:blush: :notworthy:king::notworthy

I didn't think the Elvis 68 TV Special was a concert like the others here.

I think that the 68 Comeback Special (the sit-down performances) was his absolute BEST and I'll tell you why -- he was hungry, he wanted it more than anything, he was scared and vulnerable and it showed, he had fire within and desire to please and the energy to work for it and in the end he did 'rise to the challenge' ...(he didn't look bad either!!)

It was kind of like his last chance the 68 special was in a way.. it was his chance to show the world that he was still the greatest entertainer of the 20th century and it was clear after that special that the next decade of the 70s would belong to elvis and it did !

Brad - these are 2 quotes I read often regarding the 68 Comeback Special since I think that it is one of his highest moments as a performer:

"It was the finest music of his life. If ever there was music that bleeds, this was it."

Greil Marcus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greil_Marcus) on the 1968 TV Special, in his book Mystery Train.

"There is something magical about watching a man who has lost himself find his way back home..."

John Landau (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Landau), review of the TV Special Elvis (1968).

TTWII !!!
Saw it in 1970 in the theater-and on the big screen it jumps at you how great he looked and sounded.
There is something to be said for the theater experience in this age of cable, DVDs and MP3s.;)

Oh my goodness...I remember the first time seeing it in the theater..November of '70. I came out that day with a mission...to convince my parents we had to go to Vegas. And, we did!!(y) I think I ended up seeing it in the theater about a dozen times that month. I would go on Saturday and sit through it 2 or 3 times.:supriced::D:D:D:king:

My aunt, her husband, my band members and I went to see it together, and we sat through it twice the first time. Then the band and I went back the next day to set through it 2 times more.
It was as good as it got-except for seeing him live.

You are absolutely right about that. Up until that time I had his Vegas records, but I assumed that any one under 18 probably couldn't go to his show in Vegas. When I saw those little- little girls (he even kisses one of them on the cheek!) I knew where I was headed.;) And I was silently thinking to myself...."I hope and pray he thinks I'm old enough to kiss him on the lips. I don't want a cheek kiss".:P Thankfully...I did get a REAL kiss.(y)(y) :king::king::king:

Don't get much better than that.

I've always thought of how a special like that would have or could have been used to motivate Elvis again..Image something like this offered to Elvis in say May 1975.

Then he would motivated to clean up his act and that would be something else. Elvis in 1975 giving an informal Jam Sessions. :notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy

I voted for TTWII. He was so amazing in his white suits, performaces were full of his natural humor and his voice was great, warm, soft & you could feel that love tone of his in the songs. Just.....WOW!!!!(y)

They are all so great........it's really hard to chose. They were all big highlights in his career for sure.I love all of them........but mine will always be TTWII.To me it's a prime example of why he's The King Of Rock 'N' Roll.Especially if you watch the Special Edition version. The pure RAW energy he displays is just awesome......but all these specials show why he is so dynamic and so well loved by all who care and loved him so much as we do.Simply the BEST......none other comes close to this AMAZING INDIVIDUAL.

I LIKE THEM ALL!! THEY EACH RESPRESENT A DIFFERENT STAGE IN ELVIS' CAREER AND LIFE. I WISH THAT PEOPLE WOULD GIVE MORE ATTENTION TO HIS 1977 CBS SPECIAL. I WATCHED IT RECENTLY ON DVD AND I THINK ELVIS GIVES A GREAT VOCAL PERFORMANCE WITH SONGS LIKE "MY WAY" AND "HURT",DESPITE HIS HEALTH PROBLEMS. WHILE IN THE EARLIER SPECIALS ELVIS WAS IN TOP PHYSICAL SHAPE HIS VOICE IN 1977 IS STILL VERY STRONG AND POWERFUL AND HE STILL LOVED ENTERTAINING HIS FANS.

Seeing as TTWII is more of a 'movie' than a concert television special, I don't think it qualifies as a 'special' - same goes for "Elvis On Tour", IMO.

But, if I had to choose, my choice would be "Elvis On Tour".

I don't know people. It seems that I'm not the right person to vote because I always vote for something different. I mean I had answered the same question before and I voted (if I remember correctly) for Aloha. Today, I changed my mind and I voted TTWII. In another forum I chose '68 Comeback Special. What a steady and trustworthy woman I am! I guess I voted for only Elvis...

Hi
my fav at the moment is the TTWII INTERNATIONAL BOX new release,
(see my DVD and Book Review on TTWII news section)

But for a Roller coaster Elvis ride the Concert part of the Special Edition will probably be the one I will always return to.
