I watch itnow and again, his voice to me was very powerful, i know some won't agree, but when he sings ''how great thou art'' and ''hurt'' it sends shivers down my spine, yes he looks poorly, but to me his voice was full of passion.

i watch it once in a while its very sad to see elvis in bad shape but you can't ignore the power filled performances of hurt and how great thou art and that heart felt rendition of unchained melody great shows to watch and you can see the glimmer of reality in his eyes when he sings unchained melody and it just shows he was an entertainer untill the end

I voted never because I don't have the Elvis In Concert DVD to watch anyway.
I would watch it once a year if I had it.

I don't have it (neither DVD nor VHS), but I have seen it on YouTube twice. I can tell it was very painful to me, he was very ill. And his eyes were not so shining like I saw before, (like in TTWII), I realized that immediately. But his voice was absolutely amazing. It is so unbelievable to me that nobody could help him and he was very brave that he went on the stage in his condition. That's one reason why he was the king!

I watch it every few months and while i agree it is heartbreaking to see this once powerfull man reduced to performing while obviously in no state to do so is a injustice to the mans memory, the last few years of his life must be accepted to fully appriciate the man, and not as epe would have us do and forget everything after 1973.The cbs special is in my opinian remarkable in it shows the true man stripped of the beauty and majasty of only a few years before and the power and emotion in how great thou art and my way are a true tribute to a man who gave everything he had one last time.

I bought the DVD EIC a year or so ago. I used to watch it over and over, and i always noticed different things. But back on track..now i watch it on Elvis' birthday (JAN 8) and on the anniversary of his death (aug 16). I alway wondered what happen to the little indian girl Monique Brave who give Elvis that medalian? Anyone Know..Getlo, Utmom, all my friends on here let me know, just curious to see if she's still around and does she ever give interviews about that last concert?:supriced::blush:

I still think its apiece of the Elvis story and should be in every fans collection. Just wish for the day they would already release it offically already.

Exactly..as far as EPE is concerned Elvis died after the Aloha special in '73...its ashame they act like it never happened, I mean people don't even remember what EIC is...they could release it through the FTD label and get it out if they wanted to bad enough with the money they have. I for one would LOVE to have Elvis' last shows in pristine quality....(y)

Couldnt agree more..he seemed more relaxed and at peace with himself I think he definitley had accepted his appearence and such by this point and so did the fans....(y)

I fail to see how watching a mumbling, incoherent Elvis blather his way between songs is entertaining. (I refer more specifically to the two full shows here, not so much the actual special).
Having said that, EIC deserves at FTD release.

I`ve watched it all once when I got the DVD set, don`t know if I`ll ever do it again:hmm:......When on youtube I run into a clip now and then, but that`s about it....I`ll sometimes play the In concert cd though(Whish that they would do an upgrade, because IMO Elvis actually sang with power in his voice till the very end..., but I don`t like all the fan talking and the sound could be better)

I hope FTD releases EIC on the classic album series and along with it remaster the Omaha and Rapid City shows and put them in much better sound and that would be great!!

I only watched the concert once in my whole life. Wacthed a couple of clips in YouTube, but not the whole video. There are some memorable performances there, like "My Way", that can't be left aside. I may re-watch my favorite part from that concert... :hmm:

The concert from Rapid City on June 21st 1977 has to be considered one of the best shows from 1977 all together. Of course shows like An Arbor, Indy, Both Chicago shows and the Feb tour were really good I put Rapid City up there with em.(y)(y)(y)

i watch the cbs special once a year...love to hear elvis voice in 77..only reason i dont see it often is because once a concert is in my collection i look for new stuff to see.otherwise i have no shame in seeing it elvis was the greatest weather in sickness or in health he gave everything he had for his fans . ..yeah sure it wasint the right time to make a tv special ..where the heck were the cameras when elvis did those memphis 74 concerts ..that would of been a perfect time to record a tv special.

I probably listen to the album more than watch the program. It just hurts to see Elvis in pain. I mean, some of the songs are totally mesmerizing, but like when Elvis forgets the words to 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?', I mean, he did a great job poking fun at himself during it, but when you really face the reality of it all, it's heartbreaking. :'(

Sorry Brad, but the only time I've ever watched this program was when it was broadcasted in 1977 and thankfully I was so young, that I barely remember it. I do, however, recall seeing clips of it on 20/20 at that same time.
I do watch the 2 sit-down shows of the Comeback Special weekly. I just never get tired of seeing Elvis in all that black leather ......:blush::blush:

It's something he was brave to go onstage looking the way he did, and poke fun of himself. I can say I love the EIC album, wish they'd found a nice shot from 77 in the Sundial suit !

In the past I watched it several times( both shows)... no more than 5 times though, vocal wise Elvis did his best and there are some better version of songs he sang there : Hurt, How Great Thou Art,...of course : My Way...
Brad, I'd rather listen to the CD of this show than actually seeing him on DVD in such a bad condition,...
Before he sang " Are You Lonesome Tonight..." and he said " I am and I was..." also... the part when he mummbled and said " I can sing but I can't talk...." was sad to watch.

I have voted, once a year, for that I belive that he is painful to see him in this condittion, already he was really sick, but tape-worm in his voice the only power, which when you it listen to you heart gives sudden draft, his voice comes to the soul with more force and feeling that never.

Agreed it was very sad to see.
I think a large part of why he was having trouble talking may have been to due to the amount of uppers he was consuming. But not all mind you, he always had a suttering thing when on stage in the early 50's if you listen to those shows etc. But imo I believe the drugs had something to do with that in the end.
