Madison Square Garden Jumpsuits ?

Hi,

I am looking for some info about the Jumpsuits Elvis used during the last two shows in Madison Square Garden (10.6 and 11.6.1972). In bouth shows Elvis was wearing the Porthole Suit but different capes (10.6 red & 11.6 gold inside the cape)

But to my knowledge only photos of Elvis wearing the red cape version do excist. In some photos Elvis is wearing his belt in the wrong direktion and in others he is not wearing a belt it all. Any infos?

That actually looks to be from a completely different show judging by the Shure 57 mic (?) that he's using. It looks to be from Tulsa, Oklahoma--the same show where the cover where the "Good Times" album was shot.

It looks to be from Tulsa, Oklahoma--the same show where the cover where the "Good Times" album was shot.

All these pics are from 18th June 1972, Fort Worth.

In Tulsa he was wearing the White Two Piece Suit with patterned blue shirt.

There is only one version of the cape: the red lined cape. On some of the black and white pictures it seems to be gold inside, but it is red.



But to my knowledge only photos of Elvis wearing the red cape version do excist. In some photos Elvis is wearing his belt in the wrong direktion and in others he is not wearing a belt it all. Any infos?

It is the same belt on both shows. It is the belt of the White Pinwheel Suit that matches with the Double Porthole Suit.
On the 11th June show he took off the belt during the show. Near to the end he put it on again, but in the wrong way. That's all.
So you can say the pictures he is wearing no belt or the belt is in the wrong direktion are from 11th June 1972.


Elvis used the Double Porthole Suit again on 18th June 1972, Fort Worth and sometimes in Las Vegas August/ September 1972. Possible the dates were
- 22. August 1972, Dinner Show
- 02. August 1972, Midnight Show in combination with the russian eagle belt.

You can find a complete concert list in the book "The Concert Years" (Skar), but nobody has a complete Jumpsuit list of Vegas or Tahoe - impossible!

The Concert Years book is the ultimate book for the concert years but it would be impossible as said to find the suits worn for every vegas and tahoe show...so many it would be hard as heck.

There's definitely a call for an official Jumpsuit book along the lines of the excellent, ELVIS FASHION by Julie Mundy, which I'd like to see in expanded form – with additional suits from Elvis's Lake Tahoe engagements, plus the missing suits from the first edition of the book– a real opportunity for Julie Mundy to improve the book.

Also the, ELVIS JUMPSUITS:ACCESS ALL AREAS magazine could also be expanded into a hardback edition with many additional suits.

Finally, the upcoming book THE WORLDS BEST KEPT SECRET:ELVIS AT DEL WEBB'S SAHARA TAHOE looks like it will be the definitive word on Tahoe and the King's amazing stagewear. (y)(y)

6/10/1972 or 6/11/1972? Kalinsky (the MSG photographer) said he took his photos on the Saturday evening show (6/10/1972) but Elvis is wearing his belt the wrong way and I think he would do that on the Sunday show, after he took his belt of and put it on again, at the end of the show.

????
