Well guys and gal's, today makes 31 years exactly since Elvis performed his last concert at Market Square Arena, Indianapolis, IN to a sold out crowd of 18,000. How are you going to be celebrating the occasion. Me, I think I will give the last farewell CD a close listen to, and watch the concert I have on DVD for the occasion....In his last ever live performance Elvis put on an aweosme show singing rare songs such as I Can't Stop Loving You, Please Release Me, and also one of his best renditions of Bridge Over Troubled Water...:notworthy:notworthy
"It An't Funny How Time Slips Away" ` Elvis - June 19th 1977 Omaha, NE.
Here's some photos from that final farewell concert.

Good call, Brad. I will have to make time to play the CD or perhaps watch the video. It is definitely a really good show -- not just for 1977, and not just because it's the last one.
And while I would obviously love to have a soundboard recording of this show, I am thankful that we have this great audience tape as the quality is pretty darn good but especially because it really captures the love and enthusiasm from the crowd. There he was with all those people in the palm of his hand...at the very end.
I know a lot of that can just come from the hysteria of Elvis as an event, but that show was not undeserving of that level of praise. Listen to Hurt -- holy canoli! (Note that the actual video is from several shows but the audio is all Indy.)

Not to drag this thread off-topic but....
Regarding BOTW, I have tried to learn that piano intro for years--especially the way Glenn D. did it. Does anyone know how he did the intro? I'm specifically referring to the notes he plays with his right hand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

And what an amazing final show it was. Imagine Elvis left the building with Omaha and Rapid City as the final shows.
And thank god for those two dutch fans who recorded his final show, sitting just on the right place with good equipment. They recorded probably one of the best sounding audience recordings.

I know this is discussed before, but that last tour it was interesting to watch as the shows went on it seemed Elvis was getting better and better..and even looked really good on the 25th and 26th compared to the first few shows of that tour...

i noticed that too Col John. i think some of it had to do with his lack of physical activity when he wasnt touring. as the tour wore on, and the more he moved around the less bloated he was and healthier looking. (the February tour is a perfect example of this),,,, also his intestinal problems were a constant problem for him in '77.
THANK GOD HE WAS ABLE TO GO OUT IN GOOD FORM IN INDY!!!

There are always going to be those in life who always put themselves first, and be rigid, but they are like that with everyone. They only care for themselves.
There are a lot of people who do say something, they say how much they care, and we all know with human nature, there would be a lot more. It's a shame to let the few who are unreasonable outbalance the many of those who do care.

To me, the last version is one of the best ever right up there along with April 14th 1972 Greensboro, June 2nd 1975 Mobile, and finally Indy 1977.
