Been to Vegas three times and never visited the Hilton Hotel ...(n)

Other than the Aladdin Hotel (now Planet Hollywood) and the Elvisarama Museum in down town Vegas, what other landmarks which I don;t know about are worth seeing.

I intend to go in December and visit the Hilton Hotel (formerly the International) and see the bronze statue...:king::king::king:

Any tips/things to visit, if any, would be most appreciative.:):king:

You'd need to ask someone that''s been there lately.
It's been too many years since I was there . The "night life" was great > Can't say I enjoyed the day time as well.
Hope you have a really fun time ! (y)

hi there... good question. i LIVE in vegas!

please visit my fan club website.
www.vivalasvegasclub.net

there is a page or 2 about where elvis can be found when you visit here. a few things are sadly gone... but there's still plenty left.
the elvisarama was not downtown (on fremont) it was near the strip. that closed a few years ago. you can still find the building. it's behind the fashion show mall.

and you by the time you get here, you will see elvis' STAR in the sidewalk in front of the riviera!

and if you would like a 'personal' tour of the hilton, email me!

my club exists to promote the memory of elvis in vegas - in entertainment and charity. so many don't know what it was like when he was here and why he was and is so important to our history.

the pages at my site about 'where is elvis in vegas?' was a dream of mine for a long time!

i moved to vegas the year after VIVA was filmed. :) yeah, i was a little kid then, and that's all i'll say! ;)

Wow!! There are some great things to look at. I did catch one error though. It says Elvis performed at the Hilton 2 times a year for a 2 week period until 76.:blink::blink:

i have that pretty general there. i haven't done 'research' , i was relying on my own memory, which shows how weak it is after 30 years! ;)

I think if I remember correctly you're about the same age as Rosanne and I? Weren't you about 17 or 18 at the last show? I heard the memory is the first thing to go and never believed it - somehow I'm seeing now how it is true!!!

I think in the end Elvis Hated las vegas..up until 72 i think he enjoyed working there but after he went back in jan 73 from then on out i think he really hated it there. I would be too, playing 2 shows a night for 4 weeks on the same stage.

i don't know if elvis hated it all the time after 72.
he had better intimacy with the audience here. altho i know he loved tahoe even more. (never made it there! too young!)
his show schedule eventually did wind down, but it was common back then for performers to do a dinner and midnight show. geez, you could predict the traffic, esp taxis, around the hotels on the strip because of that. everyone did 2 shows, everyone.
he didn't have to be bored. elvis had the world visit him. he could go out in the middle of the night, and he did. he wasn't a prisoner up in the suite.
his first contract was 5 years. he did renew that. and he was up for another renewal for a date after he died (and the hilton WAS nervous about that one, tho)
that's to the best of my knowledge...

elvis spent a lot of time here in vegas during the 60s and the 70s. and it wasn't just about the hilton.

How can you go to Vegas and not visit the Hilton?! That's like going to Egypt and not seeing The Pyramids.

The Elvis-A-Rama musuem closed years ago; it is no longer there.

Vegas is fantastic. Hilariously over-the-top and tacky, but that's what makes it so good.

Things you should do:

* Take in a proper show (the Hilton maybe, for Manilow, just to say you've been)

* A helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon, coming back into Vegas at sunset. Pure bliss.

* The Liberace Musuem is brilliant!

* Get a private lap dance at a strip club (if you've seen Knocked Up, you'll know what I mean ...)

* Take the time to visit all the major hotels. Caesar's palace is a world unto itself.

* Gamble, at least a few bucks.

* Walking up and down The Strip can provide hours of entertainment.

* Visit the Stratosphere for the highest view of Vegas, and for three thrill rides that will scare you stupid.

* Go to the down town area. See the light show on Freemont Street (every 20 minutes or so until midnight).

I completely agree with you Getlo, except on one point. I think I will pass on the lap dance!;);):lmfao:
