Story:

A Chicago nightclub owner, Harold Stone, hires Elvis to keep an eye on his daughter, Fabares, while she's away on holiday in Fort Lauderdale.
This turns out to be not an easy task, while lots of trouble await Elvis.

Elvis for instance ends a romantic meeting between Fabares and her admirer Mioni, by removing the yacht they are on from the water and taking it through the streets of the town, to get Shelley Fabares back to her room.

At one point, after Fabares is arrested for behaving badly in a nightclub, Elvis digs a tunnel onder the jail to get her out of there.

It's a funny movie at points, and of course all things end well, when Elvis and Fabares fall in love.

Behind The Scenes:

Working titles for this movie: "The Only Way To Love", "Girl Crazy".

Elvis started shooting on June 5, 1964 and finished on July 31.

"Girl Happy" was the 25th best selling movie of 1965.

Funny enough the title song was speeded up on the original LP album.

Nita Talbot and Shelley Fabares sang "Read All About It" in the movie.

Elvis' "Beach Party" flick. A favorite of mine. Lots of fun. Enjoyable soundtrack. "Do The Clam", baby.

Don't know why, but I always liked this move. Shelly Fabares can hold her own next to Ann Margaret any day. There are a couple of Rockers to be found on the soundtrack. "I Got To Find My Baby" and "Meanest Girl In Town" were pretty tough cuts for Elvis by this stage of the game. The title track was pretty good too.

So does Shelly Fabares hold the record of appearing in Elvis Movies with 3? These really were low budget! Why didn't they just make them into a series like Planet of the Apes or Lethal Weapon?

A really good comedy movie by Elvis. The very first Elvis movie I saw. It is a very special for me. It is not easy to play a comedy part, and yet Elvis pulls it off nicely.
