Once in Acapulco a young shoe-shine kid, Larry Domasin, hears Elvis sing in a bar and offers himself to become Elvis' manager.
Eventually Domasin succeeds in getting Elvis a singing job in a luxurious resort hotel.
Elvis meets two beautiful women: Elsa Cardenas, a female bullfighter and Ursula Andress, the resorts social director.
In addition to his singing, during the daytime Elvis works as a lifeguard at the hotel's swimming pool. The usual lifeguard, Alejandro Rey, likes Ursula very much and very much dislikes having Elvis around.
During an incedent on the highboard of the swimming pool, where Elvis remembers the trapeze accident, Rey notices Elvis' fear of heights. He finds out the real story behind that.
Rey is also into cliff diving, jumping from the La Perla cliffs (136 feet high) into the ocean below. After an argument between Rey and Elvis, where Rey pretends to be hurt, Elvis finally decides to overcome his fear of heights.
He makes the dive himself, instead of Rey and once out of the water, he embraces Ursula and proposes to head for Florida.
