I've just found this rare footage and I thought I share it. (Although it is not too good quality.) (Sorry, only the link is working, just click on it, because embedding disabled by request.) Amazing, this man was really passionate!! What do you think, what were the most passionate performances from Elvis?

Thanks for the link!.......As to the most passionate performances....I`d have to go with "If I can dream" from the `68 special.
Oh yeah....Is it possible that the "Embedding disabled by request" had anything to do with the video not working?...Just a thought. Thanks again!!

Yes, you're right, that was the problem. But the link is working. I agree, "If I Can Dream" was one of his most passionate performance, that's for sure!! But my other big favourites are "Suspicous Minds" and "One Night" from the 2nd sitdown-show, from the 68 Comeback. And of course what you saw and heard in that clip. ;)

As far as PURE passion, magic, emotion, this is my all time favorite, although so many others could arguably be number one, I don't think anyone would disagree, this is one of the most PASSIONATE performances...This version was done on the second night of the Summer Vegas engagement. I understand that on the first night of the Summer Vegas engagement, some of the back-up voices as well a members of the audience were literally moved to tears to hear his rendition. Paul Simon has admitted that he had no business doing the song anymore since he was completely taken with Elvis' version...........
This is the only version of the TTWII performance I could find. The other performances from the TTWII performance isn't posted anymore.

Oh yes, you are right!! Not just the audience and the back-up voices... This is the performance what can touch me over and over again!! It is burnt in my memory forever since I saw it first time on YouTube. And then I saw it in TTWII. I have found another video from this song:

OMG!!!!!!!!!! That's enought to bring a woman to her knees!!!!!! The only other performance that rivals this in terms of raw sexuality would be this same song performed at the 1st sit-down show!!!!!

There is passion in terms of raw sexual power, but in another context I found his live version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" (from 1975) not only to be meaningful, but touching and even magical as well.

Actually this is just a voice over. The music is from when he recorded it in the studio and the live performance was from, of course, TTWII. Unfortunately, the clip from TTWII has been removed.(n)(n)(n) It was the best!!

Betti, you and I first met because of one of the clips of Elvis doing "Bridge Over Troubled Water", do you remember which one it was? I remember that you and I made a comment about the beautiful expression in his eyes...and out of that a friendship was made!(y)(y)

If I sit and watch them all I can tell you which one it was. Betti saw something there..something that touched me as well. She had left a comment that I responded to...and as a result Betti became my first "cyber Elvis friend".:lol: :notworthy:king::notworthy

Yes Rosanne, I remember very well. ;) :D How can I ever forget it? It was already 8 months ago, did you know it?  Well, it was the first one, what Elizabeth has already posted. But here is the link anyways:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTa7fBskDD4
And if you watch the comments below, it is on the 6th page. This is what I wrote:
"I love his face in this performance, it is beautiful. His face and his eyes sometimes looked like a child's, so shining. It was and it is a very beautiful song."
And this is what you replied to my comment:
"I totally agree! He could be the sexiest man ever, and then in two seconds have that innocent little boy look. I was fortunate enough to hear him do this 2 times in Vegas..always one of the show's highlights"
I just wrote my opinion and really never thought that someone will reply, especally from the US, who saw Elvis in person. And we will be friends after that, because we thought exactly the same. This is so unbelievable, isn't it?? Two different parts of the world, two different generation and one song can bring us together. I still think that it is really wonderful. Thanks for the internet and thanks for YouTube ha ha... And of course Elvis, because we would never have been able to meet without him and without this beautiful song...

Elvis sang almost every song with passion and emotion, but there are few that really stand out and I suppose he really liked them and put his heart and soul in them, judging by the way the way he sang them.
"One Night" from the '68 Comeback Special, "Suspicious Minds" (TTWII) and Bridge Over Troubled Water are certainly one of his most passionate performances. But there are a few I'd like to add that touch me every time I listen to them.

The top for me would be Aloha- What Now My Love, 68 Special - If I Can Dream, One Night, and Trying To Get To You.
But the cream of the crop for me is from Elvis In Concert with either My Way Or the BRILLIANTLY PERFORMED UNCHAINED MELODY!!!!(y)

One other I'd like to toss in, would be the first and only live performance of You'll Never Walk Alone from July 19th 1975 Uniondale NY !
And also, one more, Where No One Stands Alone February 13, 1977. West Palm Beach, FL(y)
And also the one live version of Danny Boy from the Follow That Dream CD Tuscon '76 :)

For me, the most passionate performance of Elvis is....'Are you lonesome tonight?' live from Hampton Roads 9 April 1972 - check it out from 'The lost performances' video. What d'ya think?

Other than the video that I mentioned back on Friday, I believe that you are correct. This IS his most passionate in terms of pure feeling and emotion!!!!!! Man, he could communicate a song like no one EVER could!!!!! Besides Bridge Over Trouble Water, this is THE all time best. There are many other performances in his career that qaulify as great, but this is a stellar performance!!!! Thanks for the contribution, Cameron!!

I think it's because "If I Can Dream "applies to every one of us .
If only the world could be as we dream. No fussing, no fighting.
Just love all around . (y)

Hi there! That version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" is the one I had mentioned before, it's great indeed!
For some reason you seem to select the songs I'd typically choose.
Not to interrupt "If I Can Dream". It's a meaningful song, but not my favorite in that context. There's a slight tendency to drown him in that female gospel choir, too bad. But it's passionate for sure.

We must have the same feel for Elvis music then, as I didn't even see your choice til I went back and looked at what you chose after you pointed that out !! Kutos to us!(y)

That's probably true. It's just that, according to some, our choice is not "raw" enough. But it doesn't bother me, I know I enjoy listening to the '68 Comeback Special and such!

Probably one of the last times Elvis did the song without making a joke out of it with Charlie Hodge doing their gay act.
Not calling it heartfelt but it was very good I will say...
