Just out of curiosity my friend, what is your favorite version of the song. I would give my vote to 6-26-1977 Indianapolis!!:notworthy

You know what Jon....I've gotta give my vote for my favorite version of HURT to the one from ELVIS IN CONCERT!!! I know there are some versions out there with longer endings where he holds the note much longer, but sometimes when I listen to those versions, it sounds like he is holding it TOO long in my opinion... :hmm:

The ELVIS IN CONCERT version has just the right amount of power and timing for me! :king:

But that doesn't mean there aren't some other GREAT versions out there....another one that is a close second for me is the one from the FT. WORTH '76 show that came with the ROCKIN' ACROSS TEXAS FTD book/CD set. That is an outstanding performance of HURT as well....in fact, as I have said before, that ENTIRE show is quite possibly one of the best Elvis concerts I have ever heard!!! :D

EIC version is pretty incredible I agree. If you listen to shows from that last tour you notice Elvis hits that high note at the end of the song which was very great to hear. The EIC version is my second favorite !!

As for the FT. Worth show being one of his best shows, thats pretty high expectations there makes me want to go listen to that Concert which I am going to do now thanks to you tonight!!;)(y)

I found Elvis' voice, during his last concert, not only to be powerful, but very pure as well - what more could a singer ask for? That's why that version of "Hurt" is my favorite, but I suppose there are many great renditions of this song!

WOW, you are a very lucky individual I would trade an arm and a leg to have gotten the chance to see Elvis perform live just once!!!

By the way, Mike, I would say the reasons I like the versions from June 25th and June 26th 1977 was because Larry Londin was back in the back replacing Tutt on drums after he quit on the 24th I'm assuming,:hmm:, so one please correct me if I'm incorrect.
And having him back on the drums gives the song that slower feeling that we hear on the Master take from the Jungle Room Sessions, (y).

EXCELLENT POINT JON!!! (y)

For as much as I could never comprehend Ronnie Tutt not being the drummer of the TCB Band, there is just something a little different when Larrie London is on drums....like the first tour of 1976 (Cincinatti, St. Louis, etc.) when Elvis seemed very upbeat....those shows all just have a little something extra in them, in my opinion!! :D
