Ok, so from everything that I've read and have heard, Elvis' heigth was 5'11" and he was 6' with boots/lifts... right? So, he was about average heigth. That brings this question... is it just me or did he surround himself with alot of short people... Charlie Hodge, Joe Esposito, etc.... ?

Actually.....5 ft. 9 inches is the average height for a man. The 2 men you mention became Elvis' friends while he was in the army...simply by chance. If he were trying to help himself...how would you explain Jerry Schilling, who was both tall and good looking?:hmm::hmm:

Well, Rosanne, he needed some good looking dude to get the attention of the chicks when they were down in the casino in Vegas and I guess Charlie and Joe didn't 'bring it' as they like to say........;);););)

 Actually...I think Elvis could "bring it" without any help.:D:D Charlie actually did have women approaching him because he was soooo nice. He was always one of the kindest and most patient of all the bunch.(y)(y)

I didn't mean to sound as though he purposely did this. I just thought it was kinda funny and odd?

Not all of Elvis's entourage were short in stature. Both Red and Sonny and Lamar were close to Elvis's height.

I have also read this somewhere.
5'9 is about my heigth.
I always imagined that he was taller than me and when I saw the jumpsuits at Graceland I also got this impression....
So my impression must have been wrong.

He was probably closer to 6' 1" with the lifts in his boots. He wore them both off-stage and on-stage.

From nearly every book I have read, it's says 6', and his Dad was 6'2, Elvis weren';t that far off his father so i guess he was in the 6ft range.

If you are 5' 9" tall, then yes, Elvis was taller than you, by a good 3 inches. My father was 6 ft. and every summer in Vegas we were not more than a few feet away from Elvis, so it was easy to tell that he was about 6 ft. tall.:D

Thanks.
You saved my day (or rather evening (y) )

But since there have been mentionings of his heigth beeing 5'9' I was wondering...

Since I'm from Germany I also converted the mesurements.
5'9'' would be 1,75m .
Seemed real small to me.

But if he really was about 3 inches higher than me, my Graceland-Imressions were right.

No one mentioned his height being 5'9" ...

Depending on the source, the average height for an white American male is 5'10" or so.

My dad lived near Bad Nauheim an went out there a lot. (He was and is Elvis' age) The guys did not like Elvis at that time because all the girls where crazy for Elvis and no other guy was able to date a girl around Elvis'place...

My Dad met my mum about 10 years after the "Elvis
-time" but also at Bad Nauheim.....That's what I do have in common with rather Lisa then Elvis (y)

And I'm still angry at my Dad for not taking any pictures or getting autographs........:angry:

My dad met Elvis at Steinfurt and he was mad about him........ but he took no pictures.... fool he was......
and Daddy saw him at severeal other times but dispiced him......

Your dad should be grateful to Elvis, since he had come and gone before he met your Mom. Your mom had Elvis off of her brain when your dad came around, right? Do you think that your dad is still jealous because all the ladies did/do love Elvis?:huh:

True. I seem to remember a 6' 4" extremely handsome man that took the advice of his studio and got himself a wife. He also happened to be the 1st major star to die of AIDS. His name.....Rock Hudson.:blink::blink:

Celebheights says Elvis is 5 feet 11.75 inches tall. They base this on Army records among other things:
.... Elvis fulfilled anthropometrical standards for (Army) doctors to be considered a 6' tall man on at least three medical exams and that only one that states 71'' or 5'11''(the one of his induction on march 24, 1958)
. ...Also, Elvis was measured just one year before his induction exactly at the same place, with the same procedure and "Report Of Medical Examination", under regular conditions and with the result of 72'' or 6'. (Army heights are with no shoes on)
