Did Elvis do this in every concert?
Was he exercising?

huh? Elvis was performing, not exercising. He practiced karate on a regular basis for many years and started incorporating them into his shows because the fans liked it. It also kept him limber on stage (however when he started putting on weight, he did this to "test" the suit in case it ripped!!)

I agree...and most of those karate "stances" are likely from "suspicious Minds". He also did this in TTWII as well.

I know it's not proper exercise but thought he was doing some kind of exercise.

As the years went by there was less and less of this at his shows. The biggest jump that I saw was from August 72 until August 73....73 was much less physical.:blink:

Its a leg stretch. In karate, like any exercise, you have to limber and warm up your muscles-part of that is stretching the muscles. If you do not limber up your muscles and exercise you can get cramps, strains, and even torn muscles. IMO He just did it to show off his leg strength and it fit right into his act.

:lmfao::lmfao::lmfao::lmfao: Good one Lea! I would have kept him on a very strenuous exercise program...he would probably need to do it at least 3 times daily.;):laughing:

Hey Rosanne...there wouldn't have been any danger of him having a heart attack if he would have kept company with us for a while...eh???

Or would we have killed him sooner....? ;)

well someone can't remember who one of his friends at show I did. Told me he knew how just move his leg just right to rip the jumpsuit so he either one didn't like it or two just didn't want to wear it anymore. (Hold on that's the same thing. LOL) Not sure if that was true. LOL

Love to all,

When he went back to live performing in 69 it just became part of his act. But he had been doing the leg stretches in private during his karate training since he began studying karate in the Army. It was a fairly dramatic movement when he did it on stage. It just fit in well on stage.

I think it's that move is called a tiger stance. Not sure.
As for exercise, he played football, racquetball and karate that i know of. Oh yeah also as well as softball in Germany.
