I'm sure we all would've loved to have seen Elvis live and we would all choose different shows for different reasons. But, wouldn't it have been an amazing experience to have seen Elvis do a recording session. I have read a few interviews of people (MM etc...) who were lucky to have witnessed a session and said it was just like watching Elvis perform live. I'm surprised the Colonel didn't charge people for the experience.

I would've loved to have been present during some of the '50s sessions to witness his rawness, freshness and vibrance or the recording sessions of March/April 1960. Then again to be there when Elvis recorded some of his spiritual songs would've been awesome too. I can't forget the '76 Jungle Room sessions either. It would be hard to choose only one.

Which recording session would you like to have witnessed and why? Tough one I know.

The 1969 session in Memphis, man he was cooking. I would have loved to see him so hungry and inspired. Just after his 68 special success, oh yeah.(y)(y):)

I couldn't choose one in particular.

Any of them, would be a pleasure to to listen to, to hear Elvis in person.

I'm a huge fan of the 50's, so i would have loved to have witnessed Elvis record at the beginning, and to have seen him start this incredible journey.

The Sun records sessions would be my number one choice, then the 69 sessions and lastly the 1960 sessions straight from the Army.

I'd love to have been sitting there in the studio during the Nashville 1970 sessions.

Some powerful stuff was laid down by our man during this time - would've loved to have seen it being delivered (y)

Tough choice, but I'd have to say the March '75 sessions where he recorded the album TODAY just because that is my favorite album!! (y)

Of course...my username probably doesn't give any clue as to another set of recording sessions I would have loved to see in person... :hmm: ;)

My preferences, in order:

1. American Sound, Memphis, 1969 - every song, every second of it!

2. My Happiness - the very first second of the recorded Elvis.

3. Sun sessions - especially when they "stumbled upon" That's All Right.

4. Nashville, June 1970 - again, every second of it, even though not all songs were up to scratch.

5. Hollywood, March 1975 - I also like the Today sessions. And it's the only album (excluding soundtracks) that includes every song from a recording session (not including the jam of Tiger Man). In that regard, and in terms of general quality of songs, it is superior to Promised Land, IMO.

Special mention:

The Harum Scarum sessions - I'd walk in and slap Elvis, and tell him to stop making crap movies and equally crap soundtracks!

Some good choices there guys, thanks.

The recording of the '68 special would've been another good session to see. Elvis belting out "If I Can Dream" . It's rumoured that Elvis lay in the foetal position at the beginning of some takes to get more into the song.

I probably would ask him to sing "So Close Yet So Far to Paradise" and not get manhandled;)
