It could be the work of a fan? Great find anyway :)

The footage from MSG itself has been circulating around the import video world for quite a long time...

Personally, I think this video suffers from too much jumping around/special effects or whatever you want to call it...I found it a little hard to watch for too long due to all of the video movement.

Interesting to watch nonetheless....thanks for posting it Trelane P!! (y)

I think it was released about 6 months ago and they released it all sped up..this is a slowed down to normal speed version.

It is indeed fan-shot footage, despite what some of the people behind it are saying.

Nice to see it at the right speed for once.

This footage was shot by avante garde filmaker Jonas Mekas. Some of the film and info about Mekas are here:

...... here is some of the footage influential filmmaker Jonas Mekas shot of the one time Elvis and Bowie were in the same building together, during Elvis' historic run at Madison Square Garden in 1972. Bowie came dressed as Ziggy Stardust and still talks about the mindblowing show to this day. Also in attendance that night were members of Led Zeppelin, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul Simon, and rumors have suggested Andy Warhol and members of The Velvet Underground including Lou Reed...

I agree....and I found these effects rather irritating.

However, the footage is spectacular, so thanks to those who delivered it (y)

Mekas is supposed to have said he intentionally filmed this in this fashion trying to convey the "frantic nature of Elvis's show". It is irritating, because the film is so crystal clear and could have been a great tribute to the 72 Garden shows. He added Mozart music behind the Elvis footage and ended up winning some type independant film award for it in Europe.

Absolutely!!! (y)

I didn't mean to imply that the footage wasn't great in and of itself....this is some AWESOME footage of those fantastic MSG shows!! I have this footage in my collection and it is simply amazing!!!

I was just referring to my personal dislike for the way this particular video was created with all the jumping around....it is just too hard for me to follow and doesn't do the footage justice, in my opinon!!!
