If I'm not mistaken, I just saw Sonny West in that film! What else will this man do, anyway? Oh, another thing. I've never seen so many ugly Elvises in just one film, in my life!

Hard to believe he's doing a movie of this type .

More than a few of us have been discussing all the extreme positive points of Elvis. Check it out on the following thread.
http://www.tcb-world.com/showthread.php?t=19350
Now then, as LianaKaralivanou has pointed out, there was noone in that clip that could hold Presley's dog Brutus' leash, let alone his cape!(n)There were 100's of better looking Elvis' in the movie 3000 Miles to Graceland. I've never seen so many men with bad wigs in one room!
And don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Bubba Ho-Tep, but with this movie, Bubba has been upgraded from the D-List to the B-List! :lmfao:

Are they serious! I can't believe they've actually made this movie! Is this really "the movie the whole world has been waiting for"? I haven't. As for Sonny to be part of this-he should be embarrasssed. For someone who says he loved Elvis I don't think this is the correct way to show it. I'm surprised Lamar isn't in it also.
On a positive note there's a half-decent interview with Vester on the same page.

You know, I don't usually judge people. But, IMO it just seems Sonny has played this "feel sorry for me " role long enough. He just published another book, and didn't sound too sorry for anything. He's still pointing fingers and still blaming everyone else.
When everyone can "forgive" Elvis for being human....I might consider forgiving some others that were right there with him.

Sci-Fi - Bubba HoTep is a riot!! And Bruce Campbell is very easy on the eyes!
Comedy - Elvis Meets Nixon - funny, funny! Again, Rick Peters is a cutie!
These guys were not even attractive. They all had bad hairpieces, or a bad hairday or was that part of the joke? Like I said before, even all the impersonators in 3000 Miles to Graceland were very attractive, and Kurt Russell - WOW!

So, you've seen the entire movie then, and can provide a proper assessment of whether it's ignorant? Ignorant of what, exactly? You're like a lot of people out there, who condemn something based on extracts, excerpts and the like.
Like the Stanley film a while back, Protecting The King. The trailer made it look like crapola, but I refused to say anything until I had watched the whole movie (which, in this case, turned out to be the first half hour, which was all I could take).
No one here can assess this film until it is actually viewed in its entirety!

The preview clips are enough evidence to prove that
The trailer isnt that promising to be sure. However as Getlo stated it's unfair to judge the entire film from it.I cant think of a dumber plot than Bubba Tep,yet that turned out to be a quite good film that has developed cult status away from Elvis' fan base. This film probably wont be near as good but I havent seen it so I cant say.Im sure the whole thing is tongue in cheek.I would venture a guess the film is a satire about the Elvis is alive subject. That certainly deserves to be ridiculed. No matter what it's about it's important to remember that Elvis Presley is not above satire or ridicule. No entertainer is or the president for that matter.Any public figure or personailty is open to it.You may not like it,but nobody has the right to prevent anyone from making something like this.Freedom of speech and expression. It's a good thing.

I don't know if I would call it 'impressed', but I tend to believe that those

The fact that Elvis has died doesn't mean his friends have died as well. They
had to live on and for some of them it sure wasn't easy. Some of them
wanted to talk about their friend Elvis and the time they spent together.

GREAT POST! Sonny's book is a must read...unlike the "whitewashed" "Me And A Guy Named Elvis", by Jerry Schilling.
I guess some folks thought that Red and Sonny and Joe and Billy and Marty and Lamar were supposed to crawl in a hole and stay there after he died. In case some don't know, they all went back to working normal jobs (in the case of Red and Sonny and Dave and Marty it was before) after Elvis died.

You're exactly right, Tina. I think there's a lot of "dislike" for the MM and/or for those who were in Elvis' life! Elvis did think of the MM as friends' and did have them around for so many years...So, why are we to "assume" the worst in them!

Elvis Presley is not above satire or ridicule.
Exactly. There is a huge difference between good-natured ribbing (or "piss-take" as we say here in Australia) and downright nastiness. From this trailer, it seems as if the movie is making fun of the "Elvis is alive" theory, and I for one think this is one subject that should be open to ridicule, as well as the fools who believe it.

It would be easier to name the ones that haven't.
Charlie Hodge ... I've not seen much from ... Jerry Schilling either.
You must be joking.
Hodge spent the rest of his life living off the "gravy train" as you call it. He also wrote a book, remember (a boring, turgid, sychophantic puff piece - a perfect reflection of the man himself).
And Schilling ... ?! He's been sucking at the Presley teat for EPE for years, and is still "living off Elvis" with his work for them. He wrote another book as well, although it was nowhere near as pathetic as Hodge's.
Sonny still works regularly (in the non-Elvis world) and has not stopped since 1977. His Elvis show is a small part of his life, and most of his money comes from other interests.

I'm not joking. Maybe you could write a book to make the MM look good.
Of course, I don't think anyone really cares what they do.
You might lose money. ;)

There really is a difference. Hoped you could tell.
It's ok to "make fun of Elvis", that he went off to some other planet instead of dying ?:hmm:
Sonny was one that spoke out against all that too So, what changed his mind? Money, fame ?

Most thinking, objective fans do care ... the MM and Elvis' friends are essentially the last connection we have with the man, and offer better and more accurate insights into what went on (certainly better than Cilla, Lisa, nurse Cocke, Mary his cook and the minions at EPE).
It's ok to "make fun of Elvis", that he went off to some other planet instead of dying ?:hmm:
It is not making fun of Elvis at all, from what the trailer tells us; it is making fun of the stupid idea that Elvis is still alive.
Sonny was one that spoke out against all that too So, what changed his mind? Money, fame ?
Then this adds credence to my theory. If the film takes the piss out of that theory, then Sonny would want to be a part of it. The Elvis is alive theories deserve to be ripped apart and exposed for the rubbish they are, in any way possible.
And of course it's okay to make fun of Elvis, and to make fun of any aspect of his life - so long as that fun is good-natured. I see nothing in this trailer than indicates otherwise.
And of course, you will choose to judge the film based solely on this trailer, and condemn it without fair appraisal.
When Elvis Met Nixon ... Elvis and The Beauty Queen .. both films were good-natured. Protecting The King was not; it was a decidedly ugly and nasty piece of work. I have seen all three films, so I can be objective.
Until I see this new flick (if I choose to see it) I shall reserve judgement.

Yes, I will judge this film . The same thing you are doing.,only putting a positive spin on it. I've seen the films and read most all the books. I don't need anyone to tell me what I might like. Most everyone can think for themselves , if given a chance.
It's too bad most of us don't know as much as we profess to know.
BTW: I heard someone was giving you a baby shower . What do you neeed?

And where have I judged the film exactly? I am going on the trailer. Try to keep up.

Well, I'd probably need you to to spell correctly for a start. Then, I'd probably need for you not to be so smug and condescending. But one can't have everything. ;)

As will I. I thought I'd hate a few of them, but when I gave them a shot I ended up enjoying them. Elvis Meets Nixon, Finding Graceland, and heartbreak Hotel to name three I guessed wrong I wouldn't like. I'm not saying I'll rush to buy it, but sooner or later I see them all, If it sucks when I see it I'll say so.

Cameron, Sonny is not "still mad at Elvis for firing him" as you said. You don't know him and have no right to presume what he feels, or thinks. And quite frankly what he does or does not participate in doesn't concern you either. There are a lot of fans who love Sonny and recognize him for the man he is.
