Did they say if this was a sanctioned remix by BMG or is this something done without BMGs involvement?
Baby Lets play House would be in the public domain in Europe so anyone can remix it I think with no BMG involvement.

Funny that you mentioned this remix. Although it has been out for a good while now. It's good to see that it's finally being played on US radio and that should be an indication that it will be a single release!(y) Could this be another #1 hit single for the King? Time will tell.:hmm:

No apologies necessary my friend...hey, I've been focussed on watching this song's progress in the Congo and totally missed out on seeing it shoot up the chart in Itally
As a side note, I have to say that I'm not too crazy about the sound on this one (n)
I do enjoy hearing remixes, but I'm not too crazy with how this one was produced. Now a remake with a new guitar, base, and drum backing...that might work?

Well the kids seem to like them and is actually listening to Elvis Presley when before the remixes came around, they wouldn't even give it a chance. So that's all that really matters.:D

Well Elvis Siruis Radio is not exactly a broad release. It is aimed at Elvis fans so how many non-Elvis fans will actually here it.
Don't get me wrong hope it becomes huge but lets don't count the chickens before they are hatched.

Normally, I would think that his music shouldn't be altered so much, but I think they did a good job with this one. His vocals sound loud and clear, and I think that stuff like this could go a long way as far as introducing the newer generation to the "King"... :king:

My position is Elvis' music is good enough AS IS. Anyone that thinks differently should probably find a new artist to be a fan of. I can tell you, Elvis himself did not like people fooling with his music.
I think you are selfish.
I am not against remixes, but remixes are not going to lead to a sudden Elvis explosion of mania for him. They should be very selective in what they try to remix IMO

Hey rocknroll...I agree that his music is good enough AS IS...no one did it better than Elvis. :king: And you are correct in the fact that Elvis didn't like his music being messed with...but do we really think that he would like the fact that everything else (for instance, Graceland) has been messed with too...:supriced:? Some would argue with that. They think remixes and fake duets will make Elvis some modern day, hip hop hero. The sun rises and sets in their hopes that Elvis will once again dominate the charts.

To be fair though, ALLC did indeed create a large number of new fans and was a key reason that 30#1 hits sold millions. Over 5 yrs on, there are a lot of young fans who wouldn't be fans were it not for that record.
I don't mind the occasional remix if done well. This one was done ok, but obviously in no way replaces the original.

I disagree. 30#1's would have been just as big without ALLC. It was the right time for that compilation coming on the heels of Beatles 1. People wanting to add to their collection would have snapped that up just as quick if there was no ALLC.

I'll have to disagree here... When 30#1's came out I was in my mid twenties. All my friends bought the CD but only because it had the remix of ALLC. These people weren't Elvis fans but they loved the remix so much they wanted the CD for their collection. I really don't think the CD would have been so popular otherwise... IMO anyway.

As usual, you are completely full of it, and yourself.
That compilation was going to be number one regardless if ALLC was included. It was marketed well and the selling point for that CD was the improved sound, not the inclusion of just one song. ALLC sold failry well, but in the US it got NO AIRPLAY, hense it's dismal showing on "the most important chart in the world" - the Hot 100.
Don't forget, it debut at number one on the Country chart also, and not because of ALLC.

 WHAT??? It really has nothing to do with keeping him 'ancient'. Even though I like the remix, and rocknroll doesn't, I can still see his reason for NOT wanting the music changed. Exactly! Thank you for pointing that out Burning Love. Eventually some will get it.(y) I can relate to this. Back in 2002 when that song was all over the place (and YES even #1 on our local #1 radio station for today's hits WZYP's nightly Countdown show:notworthy) that I remember walking into FYE (music store) here at our local mall and hearing it blasting over their loud speakers in the store. It was mixed in with the top music of that time (year). It brought chills down my back just hearing hsi voice in a popular music store in this day.(y) It remined me also of when I used to go to the local record store as a child (when they were selling actual vinyl records) and seeing the new Elvis In Concert LP on the front shelves as their Best Seller. What memories. And I was just 5 at the time.:D

Wow, you have some memories, wish i could have been alive when he was. But i guess, to me, he is more alive now than ever, through his music, movies, he still lives on to me.

Okay Jay...thanks for the apology. I did get a little offended...nuthin' to worry about...but kinda felt that you were throwing it in a direction that wasn't really fair to all of us who are opinionated about these types of things.
You know, probably too well ;)...how I feel about the Graceland thing. I do believe that you and I have been locked into battle on that one... But still, I believe that we all, being diverse in our own way, will like this and not like that. I wouldn't want to see the headmonkeys take every single song and mess with it just to attract newer generation fans. But this one, to me, was pretty good. I liked it. But I still like the older version better...probably because I grew up in that era and came to love the musical style that was ELVIS. I don't mind 'spicing' it up a little, as long as it doesn't get distasteful or out of hand. But I do think that there are other issues concerning Elvis, his life, his legacy, and his MEMORY that are more pertinent than remixing a song. After all, the actual song is still in existence. It hasn't been done away with. A newer version was created...no big deal to me. My pet peeve is when something is changed and ceases to exist as it did when Elvis was among the living...because then, IMO, we are completely losing an integral part of the MAN. If that makes any sense...:blush:
Some would argue with that. They think remixes and fake duets will make Elvis some modern day, hip hop hero. The sun rises and sets in their hopes that Elvis will once again dominate the charts.
Oh I know many are totally against remixes. I am just not one. I think ALLC proved a remix can bring Elvis some attention with young people and I do not think thats a bad thing. He may have actually gained a distant fan or 2 from if. But I do not think his music should be trashed just because someone thinks they can remix it. Remixes can not top the originals. (nomatter what some here might think)
A Duets album is something I'd like to see-but not for ELvis to dominate the charts as you state(although if it sold well I would not be unhappy) I truely would like to hear how McCartneys voice, for instance, would blend with Elvis. I would like to see how he would have produced Elvis if they had worked together. Same with other people like John Fogerty or Tom Jones I want to get a glimpse of how it may have went if ELvis eventually would have been allowed to work with other artists of his stature.
Tom Jones jammed with Elvis I want to get an idea of what that was like.
So my reasoning is not totally about selling records.;)
I disagree. 30#1's would have been just as big without ALLC. It was the right time for that compilation coming on the heels of Beatles 1. People wanting to add to their collection would have snapped that up just as quick if there was no ALLC.
I bought the 30#1s because of the restoration to the originals to get a cleaner and crisper sound. That was why most bought this set. ALLC was just an added song-it was not a million seller. ALLC went to #1 in many places around the world great-"but was not in the same sales class" as any of the others songs on the album.

I have a vivid memory of the re-mix of ALLC..actually pretty funny. During the time it was released my hubs and our kids went to Cancun for several days. We got ready for bed one night and we could hear that song blaring from the outside. We walked out on our balcony and there was this guy, his whiskey bottle and his boom box dancing away on the beach below. Lo and behold, when we got up the next morning that poor fool was still dancing in the same spot...drunk as a skunk. Needless to say, we NEVER hear that re-mix without remembering the drunken fool and his antics.:lmfao::lmfao::lmfao:

I agree with you on this one. Yes, there are some coming on board because of a re-mix, but the vast majority of the new younger fans have discovered the real Elvis and his original music. His talent speaks for itself...it was real and genuine, and doesn't need to be doctored so to speak.;):P;)

If it was the hottest song on the planet its single sales did not match the hype!
We might want to include the info that 30#1s was actually heavilly promoted by BMG with massive ads and money. It was the first time in years that a true promotional plan was used to sell an Elvis cd-that probably did help the sales.
My brother bought 30#1 inspite of ALLC he wanted the new clearer and remastered sound on the other songs. Bonus songs are nothing new on Elvis release all the way back to the 50s. I don't think people shelled out $17.99 to get ALLC on 30#1s- when it was sold as a single for $3.99 at Walmart or any other cd outlet. Fans bought 30#1s because we wanted the remastering digital sound -simple.IMO

I have absolutely no problem with re-mixing Elvis songs for a younger generation as long as they are not his classics. Keep it to the songs that were not made "hit ready". He has plenty of exceptional, fine songs that would fit this category.
However, songs like "Good Rockin' Tonight", or any of the original Sun stuff, should be off limits. As should the monster million sellers that influenced generations of fans and musicians. No need for Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Burning Love, etc. to hit number one again.

Backpeddling I see.:hmm::hmm::hmm:
I saw this on the CBS News site and thought how ironic this is since some don't seem to get the importance of what a remix can do for EP today. This snippet says it all.:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy Enjoy!:D
Clinton Channels Elvis' "A Little Less Conversation"
Posted by Fernando Suarez| 29
(CBS)From CBS News' Fernando Suarez:
WESTERVILLE, OHIO -- Hillary Clinton’s campaign message at this morning's rally here could be summed up with the lyrics of the song that opened her event: Elvis Presley's “A Little Less Conversation."
"A little less conversation, a little more action please / All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me / A little more bite and a little less bark," sang Elvis in his classic ditty, although he was singing about his love life and not about the Democratic primary. Regardless, it was a clever twist by the Clinton campaign to use it as she walked on stage to a cheering crowd in the Westerville North High School gymnasium.

Maybe so a remix can help Elvis, but I don't like this one, same old background remix music, nothing original here. I don't think it does anything for the song.

A Little Less Conversation was done with much more thought out precision.

I think so as well...I guess that's why it has always been my favorite of any re-mix.:)
ALLC was such an easy song to work with for a remix-for starters they had the grittier version recorded at the 68 Special, it actually was a lot harder sounding than the movie version. Elvis's vocal was more up front. The song was almost unknown to the public. The basic beat is as close to rap as an Elvis song can get and it was almost spoken- not sang to start with. It was used in Oceans 11-then the JXL remix was used for the World Soccer theme. Everything fell into place (as if planned) This is not s scenerio you can plan-it just happened.
Now lets look at the Rubberneckin remix-it was planned from the start. It had an official video (instead of one like the World Cup produced video used for ALLC) and Elvis was in the video. It did not catch fire, it got little radio play, little to no play of the video. Its sales were no where near those of ALLC. (and ALLC was no where near typical Elvis sales for a hit)
IMO Remixes are very hard to predict, its not like going into the studio with a live artist and trying to make a hit. You have one, ALLC, where everything which could help it happened-with no marketing plan, and no input from BMG(until after it became apparent it was taking off)
Rubberneckin was planned, had marketing, had Elvis in the video and did not take off and got less play everywhere.

I not a big fan of this remix, although I am not completely opposed to remixes on the whole.
Remixes are such a hard act to follow from the original, because the context to which they were recorded is removed (like the soul) ALLC was a one off which IMO has yet to be topped...
I wouldn't be adverse to some songs getting a makeover if they didn't feel the need to make them all into rapping style montages :hmm:there are other styles!
Mark Ronsons version of Valarie by the zutons featuring Amy Winehouse is refreshing yet has a classic and modern vibe mixed together!

Thats my feeling. IMO They have to be very selective in doing the remixes, but should explore other styles and musical roads. I think its a hit and miss thing which is not going to produce quality remixes(like ALLC) every time out.

Well, I'm a loyal listener to Sirius - Channel 13 of course. I really don't care too much for the remix on this song but then again I am a fan of Elvis' music from the latter years. :hmm: Just not crazy about this one..... (n) although I have liked a couple of the other remixes........

I have yet to get around to getting a Siruis radio. I guess I'm a little behind on that.
My original thought was that I didn't want to spend all the money to buy a new radio for my car that was able to pick up Sirius Satellite, or buy any of the home radios that you can purchase and then have to pay for the service on top of it...
But now that Sirius has their internet subscription option, it's really a great deal. I can listen to the Elvis channel (or any other channel I want) while I am on the computer or in the house for that matter, and it's only $12.95 a month. And if I decide down the road I don't want it anymore, I can cancel the subscription without being out all the money I would have had to spend on the radio equipment for my car or house.
The best thing to do KPM is to give the Sirius free 3-day trial offer a try....listen to the Elvis channel, see if it is something that you would enjoy, and then subscribe if you like it. You aren't out any money for the 3-day trial offer and you might really like it, as I did when I gave it a try.
