That's the way it is.

Reasons :
The energy he had on stage.
The Charisma he had.
His Looks :P
And his slender figure.
His amazing voice...

Just for the fun and raw energy would have to be the '68 Comeback.
After that ..:hmm: probably the biggest most impressive would be Aloha .
It's just never been duplicated IMO. :)

But, love the EOT , TTWII too....many good performances .

Hey Tony,
Did you go to San Antonio, Texas to see him April 14, 1972?

That San Antonio show from April 1972 is a great one for sure!! (y)

Another one that is a favorite of mine is Elvis' show in Fort Worth on July 3rd, 1976. (This one has been released on the FTD label in the ROCKIN' ACROSS TEXAS book). For 1976, it's a VERY strong show with Elvis in good voice and very little goofing around. He puts a lot of effort into every song, even the usual "throw-a-way" songs like JAILHOUSE ROCK!!!

Um...if you're referrin' to the Greensboro, NC show on April 14, 1972...no, I didn't. I never got to see him perform live. I wasn't born until '76.

I think Aloha shows are not entertaining as 1968-72 shows
I want to be in MSG shows or 69 and 70 feb. shows or or wait a minuite March 1974 tours may be Richmond Coliseum, Richmond, VA :hmm::hmm::lmfao:

I would have to say March 20` 1974 Memphis and the entire Texas tour in June`75.
December 28 - 29 and 31 1976.

And of course Aloha from Hawaii but only because of how big this concert is, the first satalite concert (but not the entertainer as we used to see but a pro).

That`s the way it is all of the concerts in 69 - 70 - 71.(y)

There are many ways of looking at the answer to this one..... From a listening on the stereo point of view mine would be any of the Vegas shows from `69......to watch on dvd/video it would be the sit-down shows from the `68 comeback special..........to actually be there in the audience just throw me into any one of them from 1954 to 1977!!

Presumably, opening night in Vegas in '69 was the best show he ever gave.

However, of the released shows (so far), there's absolutely no question ...

August 12th, 1970 MS from the 3-disc TTWII set.

It has everything ... old songs, new ones, rarities, Elvis playing electric guitar and talking (without raving) about his music, fun interaction with the audience.

It should be re-released (complete this time, with band intros, missing dialogue and such) ... and on DVD too, complete once again.

No other show comes within a bull's roar of this one, IMO. (y)

I LIKE ON TOUR! HAMPTON ROADS CONCERT WAS EXCELLENT VOCALLY BUT HIS FIGURE E.T.C IS SAD! aloha IS GOOD, BUT I FEEL THIS WAS HIS LAST SHINING MOMENT ON THE BIG STAGE, DESPITE GOOD PEFORMANCES I.E. This has always been a tough question for me, because there's so many shows that I think could qualify at #1.

Therefore, here's my list:

Las Vegas, August 12, 1970 MS (TTWII Special Editon)
New York City, June 10, 1972 (Aft in The Garden)
Hampton Roads, April 1972 (EOT)
Las Vegas, August 6, 1973 (Opening Night)
Memphis 1974 (On Stage in Memphis)
Uniondale, July 19, 1975 (after show - America's Own cd)
Pittsburgh, December 21, 1976 (New Years Eve)

1969:
I think itīs really not important which show would be released... All were just MAGIC.

1970:
I have to agree, that 12th August 1970MS was very special concert

1971:
I donīt have enough recordings from this year, so sorry...

1972:
9th April 1972ES
14th April 1972
10th June 1972 AS
12th August 1972 - I think that this show is underrated!!!

1973:
14th January 1973

1974:
I cant help myself, but I think that oficially released show in Memphis is a bit overrated. I think that Richmond is vocally far better, but the best show of the year was opening show in Vegas!!! Definately!

1975:
22nd March 1975 - one of best Elvis vocal performance ever
13th December 1975 - Trying To Get To You, Polk Salad Annie, Just Pretend, How Great Thou Art....

1976:
20th October 1976 - very underrated show I think!
12th December 1976 - last show in Vegas
29th December 1976 - Birmingham
31st December 1976 - Pittsburgh - best show that year I think and best show of 1977 too. :(

1977:
24th April 1977 - Ann Arbor
21st June 1977 - Rapid City - Trying To Get To You, Unchained Melody!
26th June 1977 - Bridge Over Troubled Water!!!

Of the ones I've seen/ heard, probably Hampton Roads, 4/9/72 ES
I Got A WOman/ Amen Is his best version
I love Bridge Over Troubled Water from that time
THe oldies still had energy to them
AN AMerican Trilogy is great with a cape
Next to the 1974 Blueberry Hill Medley, my fav. of I Cant Stop Loving You
Most sincere "Are You Lonesome TOnight"
Energetic Polk Salad Annie
GREAT JUMPSUIT!!!

8/19/74 OS is my second fav.

Different format
Great versions of Never Been TO SPain, It's Midnight, I'm Leavin', Softly As I Leave You, Let Me Be There (especially the reprise), If You Love Me Let Me Know, Polk Salad Annie, Promised Land, My Baby Left Me, and Bridge Over Troubled Water (I know, that's half the show)
Uniqueness of Down In THe Alley, Good TIme Charlie's Got The blues, and Promised Land
